The Young and the Restless and the CBS Soaps

Sorry I haven't posted in a while.  My goal is to do one blog post a month but I see my last one was in May.  Lately, my favorite past time has been napping on my days off. Several years ago I covered how the ABC soaps were all interconnected.  I grew up watching those with my mother.  So the Young and the Restless was not on my radar.  But recently it came up as a topic in the TVCU discussion forum on Facebook, and I realized there were enough crossovers for a post, although a very short post.   1952 to 2009--Guiding Light--This soap crossed over with As the World Turns and the Avengers!!! 1956 to 2010--As the World Turns--This series has crossed over with both the Young and the Restless and Guiding Light.   1973 to Present--The Young and the Restless--Set in Genoa City, this soap focuses on the Abbott and Newman families.   1987 to Present--The Bold and the Beautiful--This soap is in the same universe as the Young and the Re...

Help Wanted

In the past, I have covered some fictional companies within series posts, such as Hudson University in the Law & Order post or Oceanic Airlines in the Lost post.   I've discovered a new one, Enzo's.   It's an upscale Italian restaurant franchise dating back to the 1930s.  Now I should say, in my research I have found there to be many real Enzo's restaurants, so it could be that all these Enzo's that appear in fiction are unrelated, as are the ones in real life, but where's the fun in that?  That fact is that they are connected because it's a go-to for fiction writers. I came across this a few weeks ago, when Enzo's was mentioned in both Stranger Things and St. Dennis Medical Center , both as an upscale Italian restaurant, but it must be a franchise since both shows have different settings.   So I did a little research and found this google AI information: "Enzo's" is a common name for fictional Italian restaurants, appearing in va...

Return from Exile

I'm back on Facebook.  The Facebook group never left and of course remained active thanks to the TVCU Crew, but it's great to be able to reconnect to the Facebook group.  Twitter just wasn't cutting it.  You can join the Facebook discussion by clicking here.

New Forum

So since I'm banned from Facebook, I can't access the Facebook TVCU forum, or it's predecessor, the Crossovers Forum, or the Facebook forums related to the podcast Random Fandom or the forum for the book Horror Crossover Encyclopedia.  So I've created a new forum on the very inferior (but at least they'll have me) Google Plus, which you can find if you click here.   Come find me to talk about the Television Crossover Universe, Crossovers, the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia, Cartoon Multiverse, Sci-Fi Multiverse, DC Multiverse, Marvel Multiverse, Comic Book History, Comics to Screen, the Whoniverse, etc, etc.

Facebook’s Arbitrary Cruelty and Bigotry

I’m poor.  I’m disabled.  I suffer from social anxiety.  All of the people with whom I share the most in common I’ve found to live far away.  People in my neighborhood, my town, my community… do not get me, and I do not get them.  But through social media, I have found close friends from throughout the world who I can geek out with.  People who get me, and I get them. Facebook has disabled my account.  First they said it was for my security, and then it was for violating their terms of service.  These are my violations: I am bi-gender and queer.  Though my legal name (which I use as an author) is Robert E. Wronski, Jr., to express my feminine side, I use the name Robyn.  My friends all call me Robyn.  So my profile name was Robyn.  Facebook didn’t like this. Because I have a male body but identity as both male and female, I used avatars of female characters like the Doctor (Jodie Whitacker) or Supergirl as my profile pic...

The Television Crossover Universe Celebrates the TVCU Crew!

This website recently hit a million views, just as we are about to celebrate tomorrow our sixth anniversary.   I created the TVCU concept as a kid, when I first discovered the idea of crossovers.  It started in a bunch of notebooks, and in 2011 I created this website as a place to share my ideas with a few friends I had met online that had similar interests.   I had no idea where this was going.  A million views.  Published books.  Podcasts.   Some would say that I am the TVCU, but I didn't do this alone. Along with the website, I run a Facebook forum, where the ideas regarding the TVCU get shared and discussed by a bunch of folks.  Many of those ideas posted there are often shared on this website.  Early on, I realized it just made good sense to allow some of those who contribute the most to those discussions and really get the concept to become contributors to the site.  This was the genesis of the TVCU Crew, originally ...

Transitions

It’s been a while, and I thought I’d update my followers on what’s been going on. Working at Subway so I can pay the bills, and I hate to admit, but I’m starting to enjoy it there. I’m also on a path to take on a pastoral role.  I’m not exactly sure where that path is going to end up, but I’m open to the journey. As for the world of entertainment and geek culture… The 2nd edition of the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia is coming out at some point. I’m also still working on the Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia and Television Crossover Universe:  Worlds and Mythology Volume II, but very infrequently. However, I am more frequently posting new stuff on the TVCU website, and I’m in the process of cleaning up some of the older posts. I’m also actively posting in my various Facebook groups that I moderate, and I’m still keeping up on the latest television and tracking the crossovers. I lost the podcast, and the hope of doing the spin-off podcast.  My primary income c...
