Television Crossover Universe

 Sorry I haven't posted in a while.  My goal is to do one blog post a month but I see my last one was in May.  Lately, my favorite past time has been napping on my days off. Several years ago I covered how the ABC soaps were all interconnected.  I grew up watching those with my mother.  So the Young and the Restless was not on my radar.  But recently it came up as a topic in the TVCU discussion forum on Facebook, and I realized there were enough crossovers for a post, although a very short post.   1952 to 2009--Guiding Light--This soap crossed over with As the World Turns and the Avengers!!! 1956 to 2010--As the World Turns--This series has crossed over with both the Young and the Restless and Guiding Light.   1973 to Present--The Young and the Restless--Set in Genoa City, this soap focuses on the Abbott and Newman families.   1987 to Present--The Bold and the Beautiful--This soap is in the same universe as the Young and the Re...

I've recently learned from Toby's Site  that the soaps I used to watch while doing my homework as a kid with my mom are going away.  :(  Somehow learning this with less than two weeks until the two year anniversary of my mother's death makes me sadder. My mother, who didn't really care about my crossover obsession, was quick to point out to me how all the ABC soaps were interconnected, and she often showed excitement when these crossovers would occur, which always made me happy to know that my obsession did indeed come from somewhere.  (She's also the one who pointed out to me the connection between Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie based on the appearance of one fictional band on both shows.) I didn't watch Castle at first, but then people kept telling me that it was loaded with crossovers.  I started watching it, and became hooked. 1970 to 1977--MCCLOUD--McCloud works at the 12th Precinct, which is also where Castle works. 1974 to 1982--BARNEY MILLER--Barney Miller works at the 12th Precinct, which is also where Castle works. 1984 to 1992--THE COSBY SHOW--Hudson University has appeared on this show, and on Castle. 1990 to Present--LAW & ORDER--Hudson University has appeared on all the LAW & ORDER shows in the franchise.  Hudson University was also seen in Castle. 1995--CAN'T HURRY LOVE--This show's New York police work at the 12th Precinct, which is also where Castle works. 2000--THE BEAT--This show's New York police work at the 12th Precinct, which is also where Castle works. 2001 to Present--DEGRASSI:  THE NEXT GENERATION--Hudson University has appeared on this show, and on Castle. 2002 to 2009-...
