Projects: Past, Present, and Future

PAST I've just submitted my first book, the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia, to the publisher.  It's estimated to be released in early to mid October.  It takes a similar approach to this blog, but is focused only on horror and goes into much greater detail than these blog posts usually do.  If you are a fan of posts on this site covering topics like Scooby-Doo!, H.P. Lovecraft, Zombies, or other horror related material, you just might like the book. PRESENT In the next few months, I'll be updating some of the older blog posts here and writing new ones as well. FUTURE I'm already working on the next book.  It's similar to the last one, but instead of horror, I will be writing about cartoons.  I'm shooting for a 2016 release.  If you are a fan of posts on this site covering topics like My Little Pony, Offspring of Zed, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or other animation related material, you just might like the book.  (Note that the Zed theory will not be pa

Zombies: A TVCU Quickie

What's a quickie?   See this blog. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In the Vodou religion,  zombie  ( Haitian Creole :  zonbi ) is an  animated corpse  raised by magical means, such as  witchcraft . [1] Zombies  are fictional  undead  creatures regularly encountered in  horror  and  fantasy  themed works. They are typically depicted as mindless, reanimated corpses with a  hunger for human flesh , and particularly for  human brains  in some depictions. Although they share their name and some superficial similarities with the  zombie  from Haitian  Vodun , their links to such folklore are unclear. Many consider  George A. Romero 's seminal film  Night of the Living Dead  to be the progenitor of these creatures. [1] [2]  Zombies have a complex literary heritage, with antecedents ranging from  Richard Matheson  and  H. P. Lovecraft  to  Mary Shelley 's  Frankenstein , all drawing on European folklore of the undead. The popularity of zombies in movies has led to the

A Tarantino/Rodriguez Blog

Warning:  This blog covers R Rated material, even though the blog itself is for general audiences. It's not often that I cover a creator in a blog.  I did do so with Adam Sandler, who likes to connect his works with the appearances of recurring secondary characters, even though the stories themselves are otherwise unconnected. Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez do the same thing in their works.  They subtly connect their works to make a shared reality (which just so happens is part of the larger TVCU), without having to announce to the world that their films are sequels or part of a series (because they aren't, or at least not all of them.) So below will be a timeline, as usual, focusing on films and television series that have been written, directed, or produced by the duo together or separately, or in which one or both have acted. 1858--DJANGO UNCHAINED-- Former dentist, Dr. King Schultz, buys the freedom of a slave, Django, and trains him with the intent to make
