Television Crossover Universe

 Some spoilers, will be mentioning the new Flash movie and Spider-Verse. The TVCU was created based on the idea of a shared reality based on crossovers.  And it still is.   However, in recent years, films and television have been embracing the multiverse concept. From the beginning, the TVCU has used the multiverse concept.  We had the Looniverse for cartoons that don't fit in a "real world", like funny talking animals.  We had the TVCU-2 for reboots.  We had a mirror universe.   The TVCU has also had a concept that it happens the way we see it on the screen.  So when things are shown to be in the same reality, we accept that.   And I tried to cram things in sometimes, like putting all the versions of Superman in one timeline.   But the film and television industry have shown me a new way.   We know now that Ghostbusters and Real Ghostbusters are alternate timelines.  We know that every version of the T...

In case you haven't figured it out, THAT'S OUR RALPH! is a completely made up TV series.  It was an April Fool's Day prank.  It was a lot of fun trying to create a fake TVCU blog that seemed real, and I thought I'd share the process. The title--I was really trying to capture the essence of the early 1980s, and the numerous really bad failed sitcoms that I remember.  Thus I came up with this generic, cheesy title that just seemed perfect for the type of show I was trying to represent.   The premise--Using that logic, I created a show that was the typical sitcom trope of that era, which had come before and still exists, but really seemed to populate the 1980s.  A man who is kind of the dumb, scheming family man, with the smart nagging wife, and cute, generic kids.   The picture used for the show's star is a generic picture I found in a Google images search.  I have no idea who this guy is.  But he's absolutely not Billy Stiper. TVCU?  HCU?  Looniverse?  Cartoon Universe?  What? To help those who may be new, here is a brief review of some of the terms you may see used to describe shared realities. Cartoon Universe--This is the reality of my next book, the Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia.  The Cartoon Universe is not exactly the same as the Looniverse, but it is very similar.  If you see a blog post with an entry that mentions the Cartoon Universe, you should assume in that case that the Cartoon Universe and Looniverse are one and the same.  And if you see an entry that mentions the Cartoon Universe, you are getting a sneak peek at my second book. What's a quickie?   See this blog. Today I'm going to talk about cartoons.  I won't be discussing a particular cartoon, but cartoons in general, and how they fit into TVCM canon.  The great thing about quickies is I don't always have to be tied down to the chronology format and thus can cover broader subjects from time to time. I love cartoons.  I never grew out of them, and I feel based on the varying levels of content in cartoons, most adults who write cartoons never grew out of them either. The current standard for cartoons has connected them in canon to three realities:  the TVCU, the Looniverse, and the Bongo Universe/Anomaly.  This depended mostly on the six degrees rules.  Could the animated series or film be connected more easily to one reality or the other based on crossover evidence? WARNING:  THERE IS CONFLATION OF EVERY TIME JERRY SEINFELD HAS PLAYED HIMSELF IN A FICTIONAL SETTING. 1979 to 1988--SEINFELD--Buzsla and Ollu are living in separate apartments in the same building in New York City.  Buzsla has taken the name of Cosmo Kramer, and Ollu is now Newman.  While Kramer becomes good friends with comedian Jerry Seinfeld, Newman can't stand him.  In the final episode, Jerry Seinfeld, George (really Larry David), Elaine, and Kramer are on their way to Hollywood when NBC wants to make a show based on the four of them, called Jerry.  But circumstances wind them up in jail with a 10 year sentence.  Fortunately, they get out after just a few months, thanks to NBC execs.  The show does get picked up, but the name is changed to the Seinfeld Chronicles for the pilot, then simply Seinfeld for the series.  The show airs from 1989 to 1998.  This isn...
