Cartoon Multiverse: A Different Approach

So now that I'm back to seriously writing, I've put a lot of thought into Cartoon Multiverse (the new tentative title for the Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia) and have decided I can't write it like the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia. So I'm starting over. I mean, not completely. I have 154 pages of stuff written that slightly edited will be reused, but I think I need to take a very different approach. So I'm very excited about this. And this reminds me that when I started the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia (which started off as the Horror Crossover Universe), I tried a different approach which I also had to scrap and start over. So one thing that's different is that there will be no criteria to be included other than there is a crossover. In the last book, I had a starting point and used a six degrees methodology. Nothing could be included unless it could connect back to the start point, in an effort to make everything fit in one universe. This book is cal

Explaining the Terminology

TVCU?  HCU?  Looniverse?  Cartoon Universe?  What? To help those who may be new, here is a brief review of some of the terms you may see used to describe shared realities. Cartoon Universe--This is the reality of my next book, the Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia.  The Cartoon Universe is not exactly the same as the Looniverse, but it is very similar.  If you see a blog post with an entry that mentions the Cartoon Universe, you should assume in that case that the Cartoon Universe and Looniverse are one and the same.  And if you see an entry that mentions the Cartoon Universe, you are getting a sneak peek at my second book. Doctor Who Universe--This is the universe that Doctor Who takes place in, and anything connected to Doctor Who. HCU--Abbreviation for Horror Crossover Universe. Horror Crossover Universe--This was the name of my first book and the name of the reality described in the book in its early draft.  The finished book is called the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia and t
Last month I announced that June would be the return from hiatus and that I would do at least one blog post per week, whether an update, a quickie, or a new full blog. I started working on the Star Trek update. But then life events happened, and Trek is still in draft mode. Since I plan to have the book done in a month from now, and then Connor is visiting in August*, I don't foresee returning to the TVCU posts until September now. Meanwhile, the Facebook group (see links on right) remains active which is awesome. The TVCU lives so long as this group continues posting and discussing newly discovered crossovers and theories. *Who's Connor?  See my blog on How I Met Your Mother.

We interrupt your regular broadcast for this special announcement!

Hi, gang.  Yes, this is the TVCU blog.  No, this isn't a chronology.  And no, this isn't actually a special announcement.  I just wanted to take a break from the usual crossover chronologies to say hi and thank you to our readers.   If you follow this blog, then you know that as the new year began, we started posting here again quite regularly, and even have tried some new things, such as the TVCU Crew Reveiws and the Quickies.  But I also wanted to point out some other crossover goodness. I've been writing a book, which I hope to have done by summer's end, called the Horror Crossover Universe.  It's kind of like what I do here in this blog, but the format is different, it's far more detailed, there's not cut and pasting.  All my original brilliant writing.  And it's all about fictional crossovers in the horror genre.  And not just television and film, but all genres of horror fiction. Once the book is done, I will be moving right on to the second

Wrestling: A TVCU Quickie

What's a quickie?   See this blog. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Professional wrestling  (often shortened  pro wrestling , or simply  wrestling ) is a mode of  spectacle  which combines  athletics  and  theatrical performance . [1]  It takes the form of events, held by  touring companies , which  mimic  a  title match   combat sport . The unique form of sport portrayed is fundamentally based on  classical  and  "catch"  wrestling, with modern additions of  striking attacks ,  strength-based   holds and throws , and  acrobatic maneuvers ; much of these derive from the influence of  various international   martial arts . An additional aspect of combat with  improvised weaponry  is sometimes included to varying degrees. The matches have predetermined outcomes in order to heighten  entertainment  value, and all combative maneuvers are  executed with the full cooperation of those involved  and carefully performed in specific manners intended to lessen the cha

Sleepy Hollow: A TVCU Quickie

Image
What's a quickie?   See this blog. The original story, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, is part of the Television Crossover Universe.  There have been several crossover connections, including ones that have provided an explanation for the headless rider, and others that have confirmed that explanation. Thus, sadly, the new television series, Sleepy Hollow, as awesome as it is, is not in the Television Crossover Universe.  There are, however, some superficially loose similarities to the film Fallen and the series Supernatural.  Enough for me to postulate that the series may exist in my reboot universe, the TVCU2, which is actually a divergent timeline of the TVCU. Come join the discussion about Sleepy Hollow or other TVCU related topics here. Here's the Inner Toob take on Sleepy Hollow. And of course, a mini-chron. 1790-- THE SKETCHBOOK OF GEOFFREY CRAYON “THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW” (SHORT STORY BY WASHINGTON IRVING)-- Schoolmaster Ichabod Crane competes with bul

TVCU CREW REVIEW DECEMBER 2, 2013

I know I said that I would start posting these once or twice a week, but things happen.  Just wanted to point out that James Bojaciuk has posted a NEW blog, One Ghost Need Apply.  Also, almost done with the book, the Horror Crossover Universe.  And in a few weeks I'll have wi-fi back in my home, which means my productivity on both the book and the blog will pick up immensely.  So lets see what's been going on in the TVCU Crew discussions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last month we had 7,418 views. (A new high!) The top five viewed were My Little Pony, One Ghost Need Apply, Doctor Who, Futurama, and the Offspring of Zed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ivan reports:   Last night's Once Upon A Time included a reference to Space Paranoids as a videogame Henry plays too much.
