The Six Million Dollar Bionic Blog

1943--BATMAN--Prince Daka plots to turn American scientists into zombies. Prince Daka had previously fought the ALL-STAR SQUADRON. The All-Star Squadron has a crossover with Indiana Jones and Metropolis, thus it is in, and then that brings in the Batman serials. Note that even though the All-Stars were in, their existence was secret. These heroes operated more in line like other TV heroes as seen in shows like HEROES, GREATEST AMERICAN HERO, SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN, BIONIC WOMAN, CHARMED, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, SUPERNATURAL, etc.

TALES OF THE SHADOWMEN VOLUME 6: GRAND GUIGNOL “THE CHILDREN OF HERACLES” (STORY BY ROMAN LEARY)
Release Date: 2010 (Setting is 1949)
Series: Tales of the Shadowmen
Horror Crosses: Behemoth the Sea Monster; the Magnetic Monster; Kolchak the Night Stalker; The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms; Night of the Living Dead; Phantoms; Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos; “The Stephen King Universe” (the works of Stephen King)
Non-Horror Crosses: Nyctalope; Andromeda Strain; Quatermass; Doctor Who; Big Bad John; Six Million Dollar Man
The Story: The heroic Nyctalope is in California teaming with Professor Quatermass against the evil Agent Lord.

Notes: There are appearances of characters from Behemoth the Sea Monster, the Magnetic Monster, Kolchak the Night Stalker, Big Bad John, and the Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. Behemoth the Sea Monster is a 1959 monster film. The Magnetic Monster is a 1953 monster movie. Kolchak the Night Stalker is a 1970s television series about a reporter who investigates the unknown, particularly the supernatural. The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms is another 1953 giant sea monster movie. Agent Lord is intended to be the time travelling Time Lord villain called the Master from the sci-fi series Doctor Who, using an alias. He refers to events from the future, from the Andromeda Strain, Night of the Living Dead, Phantoms, and Stephen King’s Desperation. He also refers to the Shoggoth from Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. The Nyctalope is of course the French vigilante from the early 20th century. Quatermass is the main character from the British television series of the same name. Big Bad John is the main character from the song of the same name from country singer Jimmy Dean. The OSI (Office of Scientific Investigation) is mentioned here, which is in the Magnetic Monster, but also from the novel Cyborg, which became the basis for the television series Six Million Dollar Man and the spin-off Bionic Woman. All of the above mentioned series, books, and films are all shown to co-exist in the Horror Universe, though of course only the horror crosses can be used to link and bring in further crossovers. And yes, once again, Doctor Who is in the Horror Universe!!! And see my notes elsewhere for how zombie movies fit into the Horror Universe.

1953--THE MAGNETIC MONSTER--The Office of Scientific Investigation is the unifying element of a trilogy of sci-fi movies written by Ivan Tors. The movies include The Magnetic Monster (1953), Riders to the Stars (1954), and Gog (1954). The adventures of the Office of Scientific Investigation in Tors' movies resemble cases that would involve the OSI in SMDM and BW.

1966--MONSTAAH--From their website: California. That same year, James and Anna Summers are killed in what is reported as a car accident. However, an agent of L.O.A.D with the knowledge that James was a member of the Van Helsing family investigated the corpses and found the unmistakable marks of a vampire's fangs. Their daughter Jaime was in the automobile with them, but it appears that whoever attacked them used some form of mesmerism to completely suppress all memory of the traumatic incident from Jaime's mind. This induced amnesia appears to have tragically removed her memories of the existence of her younger brother Hank (who thankfully was at the Summers' Ojai, CA residence with a sitter at the time). In order to protect the children, the Van Helsing family decided that keeping them separated might insure their safety, and thus sent Jaime to live with Jim and Helen Elgin, friends of her parents. The location of where Hank Summers was sent is still a secret. Jaime and Hank's existence were also kept from each other, using drastic measures such as changing the spelling of Jaime's last from Summers to 'Sommers.' James Sherrard has a complete dossier updating Jaime Sommers' life after this tragedy. As the events surrounding James and Anna Summers' death, and the fact that Jaime has a younger sibling, are top secret and unknown even to her, it's no surprise that Mr. Sherrard's file does not reflect our information. Click here to read JAIME'S STORY at James Sherrard's THE BIONIC WOMAN FILES. See also Kenneth Johnson's series of files entitled THE BIONIC WOMAN, and her appearances in the series of files entitled THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN. Further, see Ray Austin and Michael Sloan's file THE RETURN OF THE SIX-MILLION-DOLLAR MAN AND THE BIONIC WOMAN, and Alan J. Levi's, Michael Sloan's, and Brock Choy's file BIONIC SHOWDOWN: THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN AND THE BIONIC WOMAN.

1969--THE NAME OF THE GAME--"Love-In at Ground Zero"--An O'Bservation from Toobworld's Toby O'Brien:  After giving publisher Glenn Howard a tour of the test site where a new chemical weapon will be detonated, Colonel Malcolm Parker returned to his office on the base.  As he settled himself at his desk, the Colonel told his aide to get Colonel Austin on the phone. That was in 1969.  When we met Steve Austin, 'The Six Million Dollar Man' five years later, he was already a colonel who had served in Vietnam and had been the first civilian to walk on the moon.  If he already was a colonel by 1969, it must have been under special circumstances - he was just thirty years old at that point.  It could have been due to extraordinary services in a combat situation while in country, or it was bestowed upon him after his lunar mission.  (Austin would be one of those astronauts who took part in the secret missions that were never revealed to the public, many of which were geared toward establishing the colony on the Moon.) As to why he was at that test site outside Las Vegas in January 1969?  Who knows?  Just one of those background stories which will never be told, I guess..... My thanks to Larry Wielgosz for his advice......

1972--CYBORG--This novel is conflated with the events of the first Six Million Dollar Man TV-Movie, which was the pilot for the series.

THE NEW SCOOBY-DOO MOVIES (ANIMATED SERIES)
SEASON 1 EPISODE 12 “THE GHOSTLY CREEP FROM THE DEEP”
Release Date: November 25, 1972 (Contemporary Setting)
Non-Horror Crosses: Harlem Globetrotters; South Park
The Story: Mystery, Inc. works with the Harlem Globetrotters when on a ship with pirate ghosts.
Notes: The Harlem Globetrotters was a real basketball team famous for entertaining but not legal basketball tricks. However, they later got their own animated series, and I consider this a cross with that series. Weirdly, both the Globetrotters and the Stooges, who also met Mystery, Inc., would both end up becoming super-heroes with bionic parts. The pirate ghosts (or ghost pirates) would later reappear on the South Park episode Korn’s Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery. Because of South Park’s solid connection to Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos, I definitely count this crossover. In general, South Park has very few parody crossovers featuring fictional characters (unlike Family Guy). They mostly poke fun at real celebrities. That strengthens my resolve in considering the crossover valid.

OperationNuke.jpg

1973--OPERATION NUKE--Steve Austin, an astronaut-turned-cyborg working for a secret branch of American intelligence, is set in pursuit of a criminal syndicate using nuclear blackmail to hold the world to ransom.

1973--THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN:  WINE, WOMEN AND WAR--After Col. Steve Austin fails to retrieve the contents of a safe owned by arms dealer Arlen Findletter, he takes up an friendly offer of a holiday in the Bahamas. There he runs into Soviet Agent Alexi Kaslov and his lovely assistant Katrina Volana, who also happen to be out to find Findletter. Is it a coincidence, or was Steve's trip all part of one of Oscar Goldman's missions?

1973--THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN:  THE SOLID GOLD KIDNAPPING--A criminal organization known as OSO specializes in kidnapping high ranking U.S. representatives. Although Steve Austin has already thwarted one of their kidnappings, he is unable to stop them from grabbing William Henry Cameron right from under OSI's nose. OSO demands one million dollars in gold and Oscar Goldman takes the opportunity to try and lure them out into the open. Meanwhile, Steve accompanies Dr. Erica Bergner, who is testing a new method of brain transferal in order to find out where Cameron is being kept.

HighCrystal.jpg

1974--HIGH CRYSTAL--Steve Austin, an operative for the US government who is part man, part machine, is sent to Peru to investigate a mysterious power source in the ruins of an ancient civilization, but Austin and his team soon discover that a criminal organization also has their sights set on obtaining the power contained within the "High Crystal".

THE EUGENICS WARS: THE RISE AND FALL OF KHAN NOONIEN SINGH, VOLUME ONE (NOVEL BY GREG COX)
Release Date: 2001 (Setting is March 14, 1974 - November 9, 1989)
Series: Star Trek
Horror Crosses: Stepford Wives; Young Frankenstein; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Frankenstein (novel)
Non-Horror Crosses: Avengers (TV), Six Million Dollar Man; The Pretender; Beauty and the Beast (80s TV); Bionic Woman; Star Trek: The Next Generation; Modesty Blaise; Knight Rider; The Equalizer
The Story: Gary Seven is a human agent of aliens with an interest in protecting Earth from itself and Roberta Lincoln is his human assistant. A secret project has been created to engineer supermen. One particular product, Khan Noonien Singh, rises above the rest, and makes an attempt at world conquest.

Notes: Gary Seven and Khan were both introduced in separate episodes of Star Trek, both having originated in the 20th century. Gary Seven’s appearance was meant to be a pilot for his own series which sadly never came to be. Khan was said to have conquered a quarter of the planet by the 1990s in the Eugenics Wars, an event that eventually of course never came to pass in the real world, so this is a wonderful story reconciling how it could have still happened without drastically altering the real world timeline from Star Trek’s history of our time period. In the story, Roberta refers to an encounter with robot housewives in Connecticut, a reference to the events of the Stepford Wives. One of the workers at the Eugenics Project is a sallow bug-eyed man called Mr. Eyegor. This is the same Igor (pronounced Eyegor) from Young Frankenstein. Another worker is Maggie Erickson, engaged to a man named Walsh, which means eventually she would take his name and become Maggie Walsh. In Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Maggie Walsh is the head of a project that creates super soldiers to capture demons, which she uses to create her ultimate super-soldier, Adam. There is also a reference to Frankenstein, as in the original version. Other crossovers in the book bring in the above mentioned non-horror crosses. One final issue to bring up is regarding future stories. There are several stories linked to the Horror Universe that take place in the future. Doctor Who is in and this story brings in Star Trek. Alien is another linked future. Plus, there are plenty of others. But DW, ST, and Alien are the main three. And they are all pretty different in portraying how events of the future unfold. (Most of the other stories can easily fit in one of those main three timelines). I like to think of a timeline as one in which at any point, there is always a now. Looking backwards, there’s only one history. But looking forward, there is an infinite number of possibilities and thus an infinite number of future timelines, all that branch off of the present day Horror Universe.

1974--THE INVISIBLE MAN--Dr. Westin, the latest Invisible Man discusses the plastic skin used for Steve Austin with his colleague.

Cyborg4firsted.jpg

March 16, 1975--Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes--The Man who would become Venom Snake. Helps Big Boss Rescue the Woman known Has Paz from Cuba.

1975--GI Joe meets the Amazing Atomic Man--Atomic Man Mike Power Joins the Adventure team

1975--CYBORG IV--Steve Austin's consciousness is hooked up to a next generation spacecraft, creating a new form of union between man and machine. Meanwhile, an enemy force plans to use similar technology for their own ends.

The Strange Case of the End of Civilization as We Know It Poster

September 1975--THE STRANGE CASE OF THE END OF CIVILIZATION AS WE KNOW IT--The grandson of the world's first and foremost consulting detective and his bumbling, bionic sidekick attempt to catch the only living descendant of Professor Moriarty.  An essential for all crossover scholars. Sherlock Holmes' grandson, played by John Cleese, throws a party and invites Lt. Columbo, Sam Spade, James Bond (only M shows up), McCloud, Hercule Poirot, Steve McGarrett of Hawaii 5-0, Ironside, and "Kojak" (really Holmes Jr. in disguise). They can be seen from 36:00-41:45, being murdered by Moriarty (in disguise as Watson).  For honorary mention, a Henry Kissinger-alike named Gropinger is murdered at the beginning of the film.

Bionicwoman.jpg

1976 to 1978-BIONIC WOMAN--The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman had regular crossovers, with two-part and three-part stories involving both shows (most notably "Kill Oscar," which had parts 1 and 3 on Jaime Sommers's show with the middle part on Steve Austin's). Curiously, although both series aired on ITV in Britain, the crossover episodes weren't treated as such: all three parts of "Kill Oscar" and both parts of "Welcome Home, Jaime" were aired as episodes of The Bionic Woman, while both parts of "The Return Of Bigfoot" were shown via The Six Million Dollar Man.  Heisler Beer is a fictional product that has been seen on this show, as well as on BURN NOTICE, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, CSI: MIAMI, EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS, GHOST WHISPERER, K-VILLE, MY NAME IS EARL, PRISON BREAK, STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, THE SHIELD, TWO AND A HALF MEN, THE UNIT, and VERONICA MARS.  In actuality, the Bionic Woman appearance was on the reboot series, which is in the TVCU-2, but all the rest of these shows are in the main timeline, so I'm listing the connection here.

February 1976--SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN--"The Golden Pharaoh"--Caeric Arclight:  For a long time I've thought that Trish Hollander, the character played by Farrah Fawcett in THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN episode "The Golden Pharaoh" was actually Jill Monroe on a case. Steve even referred to her as an angel. Then I came across this scene from the CHARLIE'S ANGELS episode "Angels on the Air."

May 1976--THE BIONIC WOMAN--"The Ghost Hunter"--Parts of this episode were shot in the Rampart Hospital Set of Emergency!  In this same episode, Jamie is at a graveyard where there is a marker seen in Wagon Train episode "The Estaban Zamora Story".

November 1976--SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN--"Vulture of the Andes"--San Lorenzo is a fictional country that appears in this episode, and then later in three separate episodes of LEVERAGE.

December 1976--THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN--"A Bionic Christmas Carol"--When Steve Austin is sent to investigate problems with an OSI project contracted out to Budge Corp., he discovers the problem is that the corporation’s owner is a cheap miser. Steve then uses his bionic powers to emulate the Dickens classic and convince Budge to change his mind.

February 1977--SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN--"U-509"--A Navy Admiral states that King Kong wouldn't be able to open the outer hatch on a submarine in 300 feet of water. Steve, however, manages it just fine.

May 1977--THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN--”The Ghostly Teletype”--From Caeric ArcLight: In THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN episode "The Ghostly Teletype," Larry Anderson plays Steve's magician friend (possibly named Murdoch). IMDb also credits Anderson simply as 'magician' in both an episode of THE MAGICIAN and the Doctor Strange TV movie. Haven't seen either in ages so I can't confirm they might all be the same guy, but....

1977 to 1978--THREE ROBONIC STOOGES--The Stooges are subjected to experiments by scientists that learn of their immortality and are giving bionic parts, basically turning them into cyborgs.

November 1977--BIONIC WOMAN--"Motorcycle Boogie"--Jamie is assisted by Evil Knievel.

November 1977--BIONIC WOMAN--"Brain Wash"--From Caeric: In DOC SAVAGE: THE MAN OF BRONZE Federico Roberto played the President of Hidalgo. In the BIONIC WOMAN episode "Brain Wash" (S05E08) he played the crooked Ambassador Juarano of an un-named South American country. I know there's roughly 40 years difference between the two, which leads me to believe the Ambassador is the son of the former Presidente.

November 1977--SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN--"Target: Steve Austin"--James Bond's Lotus Espirit appears. Also, gang members are wearing jackets from Satans Mothers, which will later appear in THE WARRIORS.

January 30, 1978--An O'Bservation from our friend from Toobworld, Toby O'Brien: Steve Austin had to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow from a satellite which was powered by a neutron core. This caused the mutated aliens to change back to their normal appearance and personalities.
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow was something the Third Incarnation of the Time Lord known as the Doctor did all the time.....

February 1978--BIONIC WOMAN--"Deadly Music"--Jaime is preparing to fix Max (the bionic dog) some scrambled eggs. When he gets impatient with her she threatens to make him eat them raw "like Rocky does."

1978 (speculative) Knight Industries begins The Megaman Project creating a bionic man. The first subject is Ken Savage, who is partnered with Summer Lyndsay James. (referenced in “The Return of Megaman” TEAM KNIGHT RIDER)

Summer 1978--BIONIC WOMAN--"On the Run"--Jaime Sommers informs her boss as the O.S.I. that she wishes to retire, and he tells her that he has to make her a prisoner in the Village.  If she is taken there, she does not remain, as she will have later adventures.

March 1979--NEW AVENGERS--"Trap"--CIA agent Marty Brine wonders if Purdey might be bionic

November 1979--SPIDER-WOMAN--"The Spider-Woman and the Fly"--Bionic Midget character has super strengh and an bionic eye, just like Steve Austin.

FIRESTARTER (NOVEL BY STEPHEN KING)
Release Date: September 29, 1980 (Contemporary Setting)
Series: Stephen King Universe (the works of Stephen King)
The Story: A man with psychic powers and his daughter with pyrokinesis are abducted by the Shop.
Notes: The Shop is a recurring top secret government organization within the works of King. It also appears in the television mini-series the Golden Years, the film version of the Lawnmower Man, and the novel The Tommyknockers. It’s also been hinted in the Mist that the shop may be responsible for the events that occur there. The Shop is also mentioned in the film version of the Langoliers. In the alternate timeline of the Stand, the Shop is trying to stop the super flu outbreak. This story was adapted to screen in 1984. While the story is in the Horror Universe/TVCU, the 1984 film is in the Cineverse. This film has a sequel, FIRESTARTER 2: REKINDLED. The 1984 film has references to Fahrenheit 451, which are not valid crossovers. The film has also been referenced numerous times, including in There's Nothing Out There, Pyrates, and Wilder Napalm, which are not valid crossovers. However, it has also been referenced in The Lawnmower Man and Christine, and those are valid crossovers within the Cineverse. It was also spoofed many times, including in South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut and Saturday Night Live. The Office of Scientific Intelligence is the name of the government organization in the 1984 film Firestarter. In this film, the OSI attempts to control a girl, played by Drew Barrymore, who has the power of pyrokenesis.

1984--METAL GEAR SOLID V:  THE PHANTOM PAIN--Everytime Venom  Snake uses his bionic arm to bio detect (sonar),you can hear the mechanical sound that was heard whenever Steve Austin used his bionic legs to run or jump.

January 1985--NIGHT COURT--"The Gypsy"--Alan Oppenheimer, possibly best known as the second Dr. Rudy Wells from THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN, appeared in a second season episode of NIGHT COURT as a doctor. Judge Stone referred to him as "Dr. Fine" but then questioned if that was even his real name, an obvious clue that it was really Rudy.

1987--THE RETURN OF THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN AND THE BIONIC WOMAN--The reunion films addressed the partial amnesia Sommers had suffered during the original series.  All three featured Majors' son, Lee Majors II, as OSI agent Jim Castillian. The first two movies were written in the anticipation of creating new bionic characters in their own series, but nothing further was seen of the new characters introduced in those produced.

1988--LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN--"1988, America"--When war-hero-turned-handyman Kesuke Miyagi is found drained of blood, it becomes clear that the occult gang known as the Lost Boys are targeting the only individuals that can stop them from complete domination of America. It's the perfect case for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen--except that their government contact, Oscar Goldman, disbanded the team in 1979 after they defeated Mr. Han's army of the living dead. Now, disgraced scientist Emmet Brown has to put together a new team to combat the growing threat of the Lost Boys and their leader, a newly resurrected vampire kingpin Tony Montana: Transportation specialist Jack Burton, ex-commando B.A. Baracus, tech wizard Angus MacGyver and the mysteriously powerful femme fatale known only as "Lisa." But will Brown be able to stop the Lost Boys before time runs out? Read More: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/04/01/top-shelf-announces-league-of-extraordinary-gentlemen-1988/#ixzz1NUE1tUnv.  This was a April Fool's Day joke that got lots of us very excited when we thought it was real. However, it is real enough for the TVCU. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was a graphic novel. Note only the first two volumes (and this) are in the TVCU. Kesuke Miyagi is from THE KARATE KID. Thus this brings in the whole film series. THE LOST BOYS is from a series of films, which are now brought in. (Some have suggested the town of those films is really Sunnydale.) Oscar Goldman is from the SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN and the BIONIC WOMAN, which is already in. Mr. Han is from FAST TIMES AS RIDGEMONT HIGH, bringing that film in. Emmet Brown is from BACK TO THE FUTURE, which is already in. Tony Montana is from SCARFACE, bringing that film in. Jack Burton is from BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA. Angus MacGyver is from MACGYVER, which bring in this series, and MACGRUBER. We know where B.A. Baracus is from, I hope by now. Lisa is from WEIRD SCIENCE. This is the film version, which confirms Shermer, IL in the TVCU (thus confirming that Jay and Silent Bob are not good at navigation.) The TV Lisa is also in the TVCU. See my Shermer blog post, and learn how both versions coexist. Pictures of former League members....Top Left is Jill Monroe from CHARLIE'S ANGELS. I think the top center guy is SERPICO. Can someone verify that for me? Top right is Rocky Balboa from the ROCKY FILMS. Bottom left is John Shaft from SHAFT. Bottom middle is the Bandit from SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. Bottom right is Steve Austin from the SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN.

The Story: Several short stories featuring numerous Cartoon Network characters, original and acquired, in various shared reality segments.

Notes: Since its inception, Cartoon Network has run numerous promos that featured it’s original characters and acquired properties in original short segments that demonstrate that everything seen on Cartoon Network, original or reruns from other networks, takes place in the same shared reality. Most of the segments take place at the Cartoon Network studios, or the town the studio is set in, which seems to be Townsville from the Powerpuff Girls. I conjecture that Townsville is nearby Los Angeles and Toontown. However, there is evidence elsewhere, in Phineas and Ferb, that Townsville is part of the same Tri-State Area as Dansville from Phineas and Ferb. There are several areas in the United States that are known as the Tri-State area, and California is not in any known “tri-state area”. Note that some of the series above are not part of the main Cartoon Universe. Also, some of these series exist in the past for future. Clearly Cartoon Network has access to travel between time and alternate realities.

THE SIMPSONS (ANIMATED SERIES)

SEASON 5 EPISODE 14 “LISA VS. MALIBU STACY”

Release Date: February 17, 1994

Other Crosses:  G.I. Joe (Marvel Comics); Six Million Dollar Man

The Story:  Lisa leads a protest when she believes her favorite toy is sexist.

Notes:  Lisa is a fan of Malibu Stacy, which is inspired by the real life Barbie dolls.  Within the show, particularly this episode, the Malibu Stacy doll is inspired by the company’s owner, the real Malibu Stacy.  Stacy references that she had previously dated Joe Colton and Steve Austion.  Joe Colton was the name of the original character from the first G.I. Joe toy line.  His character was incorporated into the Marvel Comics version of G.I. Joe, but was never shown in the cartoon.  He did appear in the second G.I. Joe live action film, played by Bruce Willis.  His mention here implies that he must have a counterpart within the Cartoon Universe, who was the inspiration for the toyline.  Steve Austin first appeared in the novel Cyborg, but was better known for the television series that was inspired by the novel, the Six Million Dollar Man.  This series also inspired a very popular action figure in the 1970s.  The reference here is that Steve Austin also had a real counterpart in the Cartoon Universe, which inspired the show.

1994--BIONIC EVER AFTER?--Austin and Sommers finally marry.  The third TV movie was intended as a finale.

1994--PUPPET MASTERS--The Office of Scientific Intelligence is the name of the government organization in the 1984 film Firestarter. In this film, the OSI attempts to control a girl, played by Drew Barrymore, who has the power of pyrokenesis. The Office of Scientific Intelligence is the name of the government organization in the 1984 film Firestarter. In this film, the OSI attempts to control a girl, played by Drew Barrymore, who has the power of pyrokenesis.

1995--Metal Gear---Solid Snake Faces  Venom Snake During Operation Intrude N313.

January 1997 “The Return of Megaman” TEAM KNIGHT RIDER –Former Megaman Ken Savage comes out of retirement to defuse a time bomb 5XE. There is a reference to his former partner Summer James. There is also a reference to the three branches of FLAG, The Knight Rider project, The Megaman Project and The A-Team project. (aired January 1998).  There is no details about the A-Team project but at the end of the final episode of The A-TEAM it is hinted that the team are about to be pardoned and they plan to continue helping people. It seems likely that they started work for FLAG.  Given the bionic abilities of Ken Savage and the similarity of the name Summer James to Jamie
Summers, it seems likely that there is some connection between FLAG and the OSI (THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN and THE BIONIC WOMAN)

1997--AUSTIN POWERS:  INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY--The Fembots (from Las Vegas, even) are from a two-part episode of THE BIONIC WOMAN.

1998--Snake's Revenge--Solid Snake Faces a Now Fully Cyborg Venom Snake in Operation 747

FAMILY GUY (ANIMATED SERIES)
SEASON 2 EPISODE 10 “RUNNING MATES”
Release Date:  April 11, 2000
Animated Series Crosses:  Schoolhouse Rock
Other Crosses:  In Living Color; Bones; Married… With Children; Malcolm in the Middle; That ‘70s Show; Scrubs; Kyle XY; X-Files; seaQuest DSV; Millennium; Friends; Lost; NCIS; Rules of Engagement; CSI; Eastbound & Down; Fantasy Island; Everybody Hates Chris; The Office; Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction; Freaks and Geeks; 3rd Rock From the Sun; Supernatural; Partridge Family; Tour of Duty; That Girl; Robocop
Cutaway Crosses:  Six Million Dollar Man
The Story:  Peter and Lois compete when both decide to run for the school board.
Notes:  Animated Series Crosses:  After winning the election, he has the Schoolhouse Rock characters teaching sex education at Chris’ school.  Other Crosses: Peter gives Chris a stack of Playpen Magazines, a dirty magazine take off of Playboy and Penthouse.  Playpen Magazine is used often within television shows, in order to avoid infringement issues.  Because it is a fictional company, it can be used as a crossover connector.  The list above is probably not a complete list of appearances of the faux magazine. It is presumed That Girl is the first appearance of this magazine, but since the above list may not be complete, that series cannot be confirmed as the debut of the brand.  Note that Family Guy is the only animated show to use the magazine.  The cross brings all of those live action shows into the Cartoon Universe.  Peter replaces the school hall monitors with the XLK robot from Robocop.  Either Peter somehow got engineers to create a real working duplicate of the fictional robot from the futuristic film, somehow obtained the robot from the near future, or perhaps in the Cartoon Universe, the events of Robocop happened in the 1980s.  Any of those could be plausible, given the nature of how time works in the Cartoon Universe, and how live action events are reinterpreted in their Cartoon Universe counterparts.  Cutaway Crosses:  After Peter references the Six Million Dollar Man, a cutaway shows Peter as Steve Austin, if Oscar Goldman had chosen to create a bionic cyborg on a tighter budget.

c. March 12, 2002--BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER--”Normal Again”--In this episode, Buffy Summers is attacked by a demonic spell that makes her awake in another timeline in which her life as a slayer was a psychotic delusion, and Buffy had been locked in a psych ward since 1996. In the end, Buffy chooses her slayer life is the real world. Years later, when Joss Whedon wrote Astonishing X-Men, he tried to get into the comic that Scott “Cyclops” Summers had a cousin in a mental hospital who believed she was a vampire slayer. This was meant to imply that the Buffyverse was indeed a delusion inside the mind of the “real” Buffy Summers of the Marvel Universe. However, for the TVCU, we can look at this differently. In “Normal Again”, Buffy revealed to her friends that after she killed her first vampires, she went home and told her parents, and they did commit her to a psych ward for a short period, which taught her that she needed to lie and hide her slayer lifestyle. So it is possible that Buffy could be related to Scott Summers in the TVCU, with Scott being the mutant hero Cyclops and Buffy being a slayer. When he refers to his cousin who was committed for thinking she killed vampires, that was true, but it doesn’t mean she is still in the hospital. Also, since Scott Summers was a teen in the TVCU back in the 1960s, it’s unlikely that Scott and Buffy are first cousins. They are probably more distant cousins. At this point, I should also mention that the TVCU accepts the proposal of MONSTAAH that Jamie Sommers is the sister of Hank Summers, Buffy’s dad. Jamie Sommers is the Bionic Woman. Finally, though the X-Men do exist in the TVCU, their activities as heroes were likely not as frequent. Xavier had a school for “gifted students”, some of whom would sometimes go into action to protect mankind from mutant terrorists. There is also another group that exists in the TVCU called the Legion of the Strange. Some of the X-Men stories of the comics instead happened to the Legion of the Strange within the TVCU continuity.

2003 to Present--VENTURE BROS.--The Office of Secret Intelligence is an organization that plays a prominent role in The Venture Brothers series. The abbreviation OSI is obviously inspired by the Six Million Dollar Man. One of its former operative is Steve Summers, a clear reference to Steve Austin.

November 2003--ANGEL--"Lineage"--Knox: "So the arm - Have you considered going bionic?"

August 2004--VENTURE BROS.--"Home Insecurity"--In the woods, Brock meets Col. Steve Summers (spoof of Steve Austin, the 6Million Dollar Man), a former astronaut who was rebuilt after a crash with a bionic body and abilities like Austin's.

2008--APR - Ivan and Janos tour the Cyberdyne facility in Kingsport MA. Among the robotics displays in the facility were a T-800 cyborg from the future, a bionic dog created in the 1970s, and a talking car. Cyberdyne and the T-800 are from the film TERMINATOR. The bionic dog was Maximillian, from 1977 episodes of THE BIONIC WOMAN season 3. The talking car is the Knight Industries Two-Thousand, or K.I.T.T., from the 1982 TV series KNIGHT RIDERKingsport MA is a location from Lovecraft's short story "The Terrible Old Man" (1921).
Janos examines some of the recovered cybernetics on display in Cyberdyne's lobby

October 2009--VENTURE BROS.--"BLOOD OF THE FATHER, HEART OF STEEL"--While recovering, Brock stayed with Steve Austin and Bigfoot.

Sometime in 2009 or later--COZI TV PROMO--Jamie Sommers is apparently working for the studio.

  • September 24, 2013 to present--MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.--This ongoing television spin-off of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had several mentions of events, characters, locations and items from the films, as well as from Marvel concepts not yet fully adapted to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Characters who have been seen on the show that originated elsewhere in the MCU include Agent Phil Coulson (from Iron Man), Agent Jasper Sitwell (from Thor), Agent Maria Hill (from Marvel’s The Avengers), Dr. List (from Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Agent Nick Fury (from Iron Man), Lady Sif (from Thor), Agent Felix Blake (from Item 47, a bonus feature on the DVD for Marvel’s The Avengers), Agent Peggy Carter (from Captain America: The First Avenger), Dum Dum Dugan (from Captain America: The First Avenger), Stan “The Man” Lee (from Incredible Hulk), Hydra soldiers (from Captain America: The First Avenger), Jim Morita (from Captain America: The First Avenger), and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents (from Captain America: The First Avenger). The following episodes have had other connections:
    • “Ragtag”
      • When Quinn explains the super soldiers to the general, he quotes the intro to the Six Million Dollar Man, "better, stronger, faster."

Steve, Vela, Ivan, and Jamie
2015--JAN 8 - Ivan Schablotski and Velaska Pskowski meet with OSI agents in Springfield to discuss the
alien cyberware Ivan encountered. Field Agents Summers and Austin demonstrate that the technology is more advanced than what they use in their own bionic enhancements, despite being aesthetically inferior. Robotics experts accept the few samples Ivan retained for study, with the promise that these components will not be directly introduced into any new hardware, and that Ivan's name will be kept out of all official reports, to prevent the Ordnance from considering him to be a "person of interest". An analysis of Ivan's Ghostbusting equipment is also conducted with the goal of determining effective adaptations to it for handling advanced alien technology. One proposed project involves the OSI creating integrated battlesuits with weaponry capable of taking on extraterrestrial ans well as extradimensional threats, and a discussion is had suggesting the experimental cybernetic ghostbusting gear be tested in a Springfield-based Ghostbusters franchise, The OSI (Office of Scientific Intelligence), Jamie Summers, and Steve Austin are from the television shows THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN (1973-1978) and THE BIONIC WOMAN(1976-1978), both adapted from the 1972 novel CYBORG and its sequels. Ghostbusters and related concepts are from the 1984 movie GHOSTBUSTERS. Velaska and the Department of the Ordnance are recurring elements of the Strange Life and Interesting Timeline of Ivan Ronald Schablotski.

2015--MAR 5-28 - ALWAYS AFTER MY LUCKY CHARMS - With the Veil still in disarray, several fae creatures, including leprechauns, are spotted in and around Boston, where the locals believe the magical creatures to be responsible for the harsh winter still assailing the area. The Ghostbusters are called in to help contain the imps, but soon realize it is the leprechauns who need protection from the angry mobs of people. Among the Ghostbusterswho respond to the call are the Arkham, Real New England, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Virginia, Long Island, Blue Ridge, and Bay State franchises, along with the Springfield Ghostbusters (Velaska Pskowski, Renyer Okami, and OSI Agent Tim "WarBuster" Wylie) making their public debut. Ultimately the Ghostbusters are able to offer the leprechauns safe passage into the Sidhe with the help of a manifestation of Saint Patrick to get the angry mob good and drunk.  There are a lot of Ghostbusters, all derived from the 1984 film GHOSTBUSTERS. The OSI is an intelligence agency originating from THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN (1973). WarBuster is based upon War Machine and HulkBuster armor designed by Tony Star in Marvel's IRON MAN comics. Saint Patrick, the Sidhe, and leprechauns are elements of legends / myths from Ireland.

The Near Future(some Decades after 1999) --BIONIC SIX--"Enter the Bunji"--A mysterious Martial Artist shows up at the end to save the Day using what is quite Clearly the Glow from the Last Dragon

21st 1/2 Century--DUCK DODGERS--"The Six Wazillion Dollar Duck"--Steve Boston parodies Steve Austin; opening theme is spoofed.  Jamie Winters spoofs Jamie Sommers

2161--STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE: RISE OF THE FEDERATION--The Immortal Flint (aka Vandal Savage and thousands of other identities, but at this time being called Willem Paul Abramson, is working on a neural computer using bionic plasma or bioneural gel. Flint's mentor is Dr. Emil Vaslovik from the Questar Tapes.

Late July 3012--FUTURAMA--"The Six Million Dollar Mon"--Matt Hickman:  in the newest Futurama The Six Million Dollar Mon Hermes is getting upgraded with robot parts so he gets A Cylon eye and a Cylon penis

ALTERNATE REALITIES:

LOONIVERSE--G.I. Joe also exists in this reality as seen in DOLL DAY AFTERNOON.  In SIMPSONS episode "Lisa Vs. Malibu Stacy", the real Malibu Stacy, whom the doll is based off of, has previously dated both Joe Colton (G.I. Joe) and Steve Austin (THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN).  In THE TRUTH ABOUT G.I. JOE, Joe Colton, while waiting for his date at the bar, runs into Ken and Barbie.

ROBOT CHICKEN UNIVERSE--Has it's own version of the Six Million Dollar Man.

TVCU-2:  Setting of the more recent, but short-lived BIONIC WOMAN reboot series.  This may also be the setting for 2017's SIX BILLION DOLLAR MAN.

TVCU-69--Setting of NOT BIONIC WOMAN & THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN XXX.
