I thought the General were due!
This post is not about the Washington Generals but rather than famous nemesis, the Harlem Globetrotters.
1926 to 1954--Go Man Go--The Story of Abe Saperstein and the creation of the Harlem Globetrotters.
1951--The Harlem Globetrotters--A student drops out of college to chase fame and fortune with the Harlem Globetrotters.
1956 to 2024 -- Gameshows and Talkshows--The Globetrotters have made many appearances. Since they are "real" I'm not going to talk about every time they appear with other "real" people, but only mention when they appear with fictional characters as fictional versions of themselves.
September 12, 1970 to October 16, 1971--HARLEM GLOBE TROTTERS--"The New Scooby-Doo Movies" aka "Scooby-Doo Meets the Harlem Globetrotters" was a Hanna-Barbera show that featured the animated Harlem GlobetrottersSeptember 9, 1972 - October 27, 1973 --THE NEW SCOOBY-DOO MOVIES (ANIMATED SERIES)--Mystery, Inc. continues to solve mysteries, but now they meet a lot of interesting people. This series is a continuation of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! It continues in 1976 as The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour. It was remade in 2002 as a live-action film. This series also spun off the animated Harlem Globetrotters series. The series has been referenced several times in other series and films. It has also been spoofed in Gremlins 2, Night of the Living Doo, and Family Guy.
November 25, 1972--SEASON 1 EPISODE 12 “THE GHOSTLY CREEP FROM THE DEEP”--Animated Series Crosses: Harlem Globetrotters (Animated); South Park. Mystery, Inc. works with the Harlem Globetrotters when on a ship with pirate ghosts. The Harlem Globetrotters was a real basketball team famous for entertaining but not legal basketball tricks. However, they later got their own animated series, and I consider this a cross with that series. Weirdly, both the Globetrotters and the Stooges, who also met Mystery, Inc., would end up becoming super-heroes with bionic parts. The pirate ghosts (or ghost pirates) would later reappear on the South Park episode Korn’s Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery. I definitely count this crossover. In general, South Park has very few parody crossovers featuring fictional characters (unlike Family Guy). They mostly poke fun at real celebrities. That strengthens my resolve in considering the crossover valid.
1974--Sesame Street--The Globetrotters visit the Street. They would return in 1979 and then again in season 42.
1979--Super Globetrotters--The Globetrotters gain powers and become super-heroes.
1979--White Shadow--"Globetrotters"--The coach hires the Globetrotters, posing as car wash employees, to play against his team to teach them a little humility.
1981--The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island--The staff of the resort need the aid of the Globetrotters when an unscrupulous millionaire tries to get the island.
1984--Love Boat--The Globetrotters are on the cruise.
1996--Hangin' with Mr. Cooper--
2015--Dog with a Blog--Featuring the Harlem Globetrotters. (I'm not finding a lot of episode synopsis on these.)
31st Century--Futurama--
