SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED

Originally, I had included the Mystery Incorporated crossovers on my main Scooby-Doo post, which you can find here.  

In the premiere episode of our new podcast, Random Fandom, we discussed that I should make the Mystery Incorporated series it's own post.  And so, here it is.

RF Episode 1: Scooby-Doo Team-Up

SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED (ANIMATED SERIES)

Release Date: April 5, 2010 - April 5, 2013 (Contemporary Setting -- see Notes)

Series: Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated

Animated Series Crosses: Scooby-Doo!

The Story: A group of teens (and a talking dog) find themselves consistently investigating the mysteries of their small town.

Notes: This show never really mentions dates, but the show features the use of modern 21st century technology contemporary with the dates the show aired, but also features many elements and characters from the 1970s, which is the era of the original shows Scooby Doo, Where are You? and the New Scooby-Doo Movies. This series contradicts the original shows too much to be part of the same timeline, but if we could prove this to be a divergent timeline to the main Horror Universe timeline, then, as with Anno Dracula, any crossover links in the divergent timeline would still bring that series into the main Horror Universe. And as it turns out, the final episode wraps up with the Mystery Incorporated timeline being altered and becoming the timeline of Scooby-Doo, Where are You!, which is the main Horror Universe timeline. So there you go. This series was spoofed in the Ben 10: Omniverse episode titled “Mystery, Incorporeal”.

The Story: The gang investigate a slime creature despite the protests of parents and authorities.

Notes: The Black Knight, Miner 49er, Captain Cutler, Space Kook, Creeper and Charlie the Robot are all seen as statues in a haunted museum. They were all bad guys from Scooby-Doo, Where are You! Don Knotts also appears, who had been a guest multiple times on the New Scooby-Doo Movies. He appears multiple times in this series as well.

The Story: The gang is sent to Gatorsburg by its mysterious benefactor, Mr. E, to solve a mystery.

Notes: Fred mentions past cases where he trapped Carlotta the Gypsy and the Phantom of the Vazquez Castle. Those cases happened on Scooby-Doo, Where are You! In a Gatorsburg flashback, one of the panners seen is a character from Buford and the Galloping Ghost, bringing that series into the Horror Universe under the rules for divergent timeline links. Clark Griswald and family are also seen in the family Truckster, providing a link to the Vacation films.

The Story: Crystal Cove gets crabs. Actually, it’s just one very, very large crab.

Notes: Dylan McKay and Brendan Walsh are victims of the Man Crab Beast, which places Beverly Hills, 90210 in the main Horror Universe timeline. Pebbles Flintstone and Bamm-Bamm Rubble appear to be students at Crystal Cove High School. I have a lot to say about that, but none if it is really relevant to horror crossovers, so go to the Television Crossover Universe website and find out what I think about it there or wait for my next book, the Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia, coming in a few years.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 6 “THE LEGEND OF ALICE MAY”

Horror Crosses: 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo; Scooby-Doo, Where are You!

Animated Series Crosses: The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan

The Story: Fred may be taking a ghost to the prom.

Notes: Scooby and Shaggy have plans to watch a Vincent Van Ghoul marathon on TV. Van Ghoul was a main character in the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. The Creeper is involved in the story, and a flashback to his first appearance in Scooby-Doo, Where are You! is shown. This is the third or fourth heavy indication that the first series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! happened in this timeline as well, prior to this series. The Chan clan appear, apparently going to the same high school in Crystal Cove. This means that the Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan must exist in the main Horror Universe timeline.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 7 “IN FEAR OF THE PHANTOM”

Release Date: August 23, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- See series notes above)

Horror Crosses: Scooby-Doo! (Revival Film Series); 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo; Phantom of the Opera

The Story: A mysterious “phantom” terrorizes a Hex Girls concert.

Notes: The Hex Girls previously appeared in the animated film Scooby-Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost, part of the revival series of films that take place after the gang had split up, gone to college, and gotten careers as adults. In the notes for Looney Tunes: Back in Action, I state that the cartoon version of Shaggy and Scooby brought to life came from the revival films, and that those films are fictional in the Horror Universe. And rightfully so. The films use modern technology and pop culture references, and even if they have aged, they have not aged nearly as much as they should have in three decades. But the divergent timeline crossover linking rule still applies, but here we have to bend the rule a bit. Likely the films take place simply in yet another divergent timeline, one in which events from the original cartoons happened, but decades later. Vincent Van Ghoul appears in this episode, a primary character from the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. The Phantom here acts very much like the famous Phantom of the Opera. It could be a poser. Normally I would rule out Erik the Opera Ghost as the Phantom, if not for the ambivalence of time in this series. This could very well be Erik’s counterpart in this timeline.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 8 “THE GRASP OF THE GNOME”

Animated Series Crosses: Dragon’s Lair

The Story: At the Crystal Cove Royal Knights Fair, a gnome is paralyzing anyone dressed as pirates because it’s not historically accurate.

Notes: Many men are dressed at the fair as Dirk the Daring, the hero of the video game and animated series Dragon’s Lair. It’s unknown if this is meant to imply a popularity of the game or if Dirk is a historical figure. John Gage And Roy DeSoto appear. They are the two main characters of the 1970s series Emergency.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 10 “HOWL OF THE FRIGHT HOUND”

Horror Crosses: Alien; Scooby-Doo, Where are You!

Animated Series Crosses: Yogi Bear

Non-Horror Crosses: Terminator; Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal

The Story: When a violent dog terrorizes Crystal Cove, Scooby is blamed and locked up in an animal asylum for the criminally insane. There, Scooby and the gang meet Professor Pericles, a talking super-intelligent parrot with magical powers who was once the mascot of the original Mystery, Inc. The parrot leads a prison break and manages to escape.

Notes: The episode has references to Aliens. The Wax Phantom is the last stop on a haunted bus tour. He was a bad guy from Scooby-Doo, Where are You! The real violent dog of this story appears to be a Terminator. There is also a reference to Silence of the Lambs. One of the animals locked up in the asylum is a crazy evil Yogi Bear. Of course, this is the divergent timeline version, but the implication then is that Yogi also exists in the main Horror Universe timeline. There has already been evidence that many Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters exist in the Horror Universe, explained as being experiments of either Moreau or one of his followers. A later episode reveals that talking animals like Scooby and Professor Pericles are descended from Egyptian gods, who were really aliens, and who had interbred with Earth animals (as they were themselves anthropomorphic animals).

SEASON 1 EPISODE 11 “THE SECRET SERUM”

Release Date: October 11, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- see series notes above)

Horror Crosses: New Scooby-Doo Movies; Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo; King Kong; Dead Alive

Non-Horror Crosses: Dickinson’s Real Deal

The Story: While the team is splintered, the town is terrorized by a vampire.

Notes: Mama Cass and Don Knotts appear. This is an homage to their guest appearances on the New Scooby-Doo Movies. The plot, even with a member of the Blake family being the suspected vampire, is very similar to an episode of Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, which brings that Scooby series from the late 70s/early 80s into the Horror Universe, under the rules for crossover links in divergent timelines stated in the notes for this series. Velma’s mother references the rat-monkeys of Skull Island. Skull Island is from King Kong. The rat-monkeys of Skull Island are more specifically from the film Dead Alive. The auctioneer of this episode is David Dickinson, of the British antiques show Dickinson’s Real Deal. It’s a reality show, but I’m just including it since it is a specific reference to another television show.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 12 “THE SHRIEKING MADNESS”

Release Date: October 18, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- see series notes)

Horror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos

The Story: The gang has disbanded as a team, but individually, they all show up at a college open house. The college is Darrow University is in Crystal Cove, California. But while there, they end up investigating when Professor H.P. Hatecraft is attacked by a strange shrieking creature.

Notes: H.P. Hatecraft is meant to be Lovecraft of course. Another professor is Harlan Ellison. Harlan Ellison is a famed science fiction author, and the actor doing the voice for Ellison in this series is Harlan Ellison himself! The villain turns out to be student Howard E. Robert. In real life, Robert E. Howard was an author who was good friends with Lovecraft and incorporated the Cthulhu Mythos into his works. Ivan adds: Worth noting that H P Hatecraft is voiced by actor Jeffrey Combs, who has played H P Lovecraft in films. And of course "Char Gar Gothikon" is meant to be Cthulhu, at least visually.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 14 “MYSTERY SOLVERS CLUB STATE FINALS”

Release Date: January 31, 2011 (Contemporary Setting -- see series notes)

Horror Crosses: Funky Phantom; Scooby-Doo, Where are You!

Animated Series Crosses: Speed Buggy; Jabberjaw; Captain Caveman

The Story: When Scooby is sick, he is disappointed about missing the Mystery Solvers Club State Finals. He has a dream in which he does go, and teams up with the mascots of other mystery solving teens to stop a villain who turns out to be the Funky Phantom.

Notes: The ending leaves it ambiguous if this was a dream or not. However, Speed Buggy already exists in the main Horror Universe timeline (really) so I’m going to go with the implication that these events happened or at the very least that all of these characters exist in this timeline and thus have counterparts back in the main Horror Universe timeline. This would add Funky Phantom, Jabberjaw (that actually would take place in an alternate future timeline where sharks can talk), and Captain Caveman to the main Horror Universe timeline. This would only bring in the original Captain Caveman show with the Teen Angels and not the later shows that portray Captain Caveman in Bedrock. This episode’s dream sequence was animated in the classic style of Scooby-Doo, Where are You!

Animated Series Crosses: The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan; Flintstones

Non-Horror Crosses: The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show; Beverly Hills 90210

The Story: Scooby and Professor Pericles work together when the town is terrorized by the goddess Aphrodite.

Notes: The episode has similarities to Body Snatchers and the villain (who is not really Aphrodite) has an origin similar to that of Carrie. Suzie Chan of the Chan Clan is seen playing a game with Pebbles Flintstone. See my previous notes for those animated series in the Horror Universe. Dylan and Brenda also appear again, their date once more interrupted by a monster.

Horror Crosses: Gremlins

The Story: The gang is caught between a battle of wizards.

Notes: In a Chinatown shop, there is a Mogwai that resembles Gizmo from Gremlins.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 19 “NIGHTFRIGHT”

Release Date: March 18, 2011 (Contemporary Setting -- See Series Notes)

Horror Crosses: 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo; Fright Night

The Story: Shaggy and Scooby win a contest to have dinner at Vincent Van Ghoul’s home. There, Van Ghoul is attacked by a villain named Nightfright.

Notes: Van Ghoul was a main character in the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. He was patterned after Vincent Price, who also provided the voice in 13 Ghosts. In 13 Ghosts he was an actual occult expert, but in Mystery Incorporated he is a horror film star and horror host, more matching the career of Vincent Price. This episode references the works of Van Ghoul which are homages to Price’s works. Nightfright is a parody of Fright Night, a fictional horror show hosted by Peter Vincent (who was based on Vincent Price), from the film of the same name. I do not believe that in the main Horror Universe, Vincent Van Ghoul and Peter Vincent are the same person however.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 20 “THE SIREN’S SONG”

Horror Crosses: Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo; 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo

The Story: The gang investigate a mermaid and an extremist environmental group.

Notes: In the Haunted Museum are statues of Scrappy and Flim Flam. Scrappy has previously been discussed. Flim Flam was a child thief who tagged along with Scooby and Shaggy during 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. In this episode he’s said to be doing 25 to life.

The Story: A manticore terrorizes an amusement park.
Notes: Once more, Dylan and Brenda have a romantic date interrupted by a monster. The gypsy in the fortune telling machine is based on the gypsy from Where Are You episode "A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts".

SEASON 1 EPISODE 24 “DEAD JUSTICE”

Release Date: May 28, 2011 (Contemporary Setting -- See Series Notes)

Non-Horror Crosses: Jonah Hex

The Story: The gang have to deal with both the Piranha-Goat and a resurrected ghost sheriff.

Notes: Though the ghost is named Iron Will Williamson, aka Dead Justice, he is animated to look like Jonah Hex, a DC Comics western hero. This episode supports that Crystal Cove is on the west coast, as it’s depicted to have a wild west history. It’s not likely that could have happened in Massachusetts, but this is an alternate timeline, so who knows?

SEASON 1 EPISODE 25 “PAWN OF SHADOWS”

Release Date: June 5, 2011 (Contemporary Setting - -see series notes above)

Horror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos; New Scooby-Doo Movies

Animated Series Crosses: Jonny Quest; The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan

The Story: The gang is attacked by a high tech assassin.

Notes: A recurring character who appears in this story is H.P. Hatecraft, this timeline’s counterpart to H.P. Lovecraft. Johnny Quest and his team/family appear in a flashback to the original version of Mystery, Inc. from the 1970s. Another character in this story, who is rival to Hatecraft and suspected to be the assassin is Regina Wentworth, author of the popular Dusk books. She is this timeline’s counterpart of Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight books. Mama Cass appears again, another homage to the New Scooby-Doo Movies. Hatecraft, allegedly to better understand girls, has several girls’ pictures on his wall, including Suzie Chan.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 "THE NIGHT THE CLOWN CRIED"
Release Date: July 30, 2012
Animated Series Crosses: Scooby-Doo Where Are You
The Story: Mystery Incorporated has split up, and the town is terrorized by a giant clown baby thing.
Notes: The baby clown thing mentions previous cases that happened in Where Are You. Of course, they must have happened differently, particularly since one mentioned mystery happened in Hawaii in the original series, but in this series, Daphne has never left the state. In fact, while the original series had the kids going all over the country and beyond, in this series, many of those cases still happened, but all happened in Crystal Cove instead.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 2 "THE HOUSE OF THE NIGHTMARE WITCH"
Release Date: July 31, 2012
Horror Crosses: Vronski Presents
The Story: "Hot Dog Water" returns and is recruited as Daphne's replacement.
Notes: The curator is named Vronsky. Why couldn't be be Allorin Vonski (sometimes spelled Vronski or Vronsky)? In Super Comics, Vonski was a character I created who was a horror host and monitor of the multiverse. Sometimes he appeared to be a museum curator. (Of course, the writers of this episode have no idea what Super Comics is, and this is just a coincidence that I'm turning into a silly apocryphal crossover.) In this case, Vronsky ends up being the man in the mask, in an attempt to smuggle Fraberge Eggs. It's not unlike Vonski to do criminal things, for strange reasons, to work towards his own secretive goals. Other than my fake crossover, this episode has no other real crossovers. Ivan adds: Season 2 episode 2 the villain is Baba Yaga, a well-known witch / ogre from Russian folklore. That's worth crossover acknowledgement as much as when the villain has a faux backstory based on Carrie, and it provides more rationale for Vonsky to involve himself in illegal activity; luring out a potential multidimensional being with cosmic power.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 3 "THE NIGHT THE CLOWN CRIED II: TEARS OF DOOM!"
Release Date: August 1, 2012
The Story: The Joker, I mean Crybaby Clown, returns and kidnaps the residents of Crystal Cove.
Notes: No crossovers in this one, but I want to point out that the Crybaby Clown is voiced by Mark Hamill, who voices the Joker in Batman the Animated Series and other animated features. It's revealed in this episode that the Crybaby Clown was really actor Baylor Hotner, who had been dating Daphne. Baylor Hotner is inspired by Taylor Lautner (of the Twilight movies). The reason he was terrorizing the town was to prepare for his next film where he was playing a psychotic clown. I feel this is partially inspired by Heath Ledger's commitment to getting into character in playing the Joker in the Dark Knight.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 4 "WEB OF THE DREAMWEAVER!"
Release Date: August 2, 2012
Animated Series Crosses: The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo
The Story: Fred gets a visit from his real parents while the Dreamweaver causes the residents of Crystal Cove to destroy their most valued possessions.
Notes: Vincent Van Ghoul has a cameo with no lines. There are numerous non-cross references here including to Labyrinth, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Dungeons & Dragons, Paula Dean, and Lord of the Rings. In this series, their version of D&D is called Crypts and Creatures. In the alternate timeline of Shaggy and Scooby Get a Clue!, their version of D&D is called Dragons & Gnomes.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 5 “THE HODAG OF HORROR”

Release Date: August 3, 2012

Horror Crosses: Hellraiser; Friday the 13

Animated Series Crosses: Transformers Animated (2007)

The Story: A creature called the Hodag is stealing jewelry.

Notes: The puzzle box from Hellraiser is seen in the sheriff's office and Pinhead’s voice is heard. Jason Voorhees’ hockey mask is also seen in the cabinet of curiosities. Sari Sumdac appears in a flashback. She is a character from Transformers Animated. In the main Horror Universe timeline, IDW’s “steampunk” version of Transformers exists, but apparently in this divergent timeline, Transformers Animated is the version that exists.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 6 "ART OF DARKNESS"
Release Date: August 6, 2012
Animated Series Crosses: Scooby-Doo, Where Are You
The Story: A work of art tries to destroy its creator.
Notes: Several villains who first appeared in Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! are mentioned as villains that Mystery Inc. had previously encountered. Note that though it appears the events of Where Are You also happened in this timeline, they all seemed to happen in Crystal Cove rather than in various other parts of the country.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 7 "THE GATHERING GLOOM"
Release Date: August 7, 2012 (The episode is set on and around January 26.)
Animated Series Crosses: 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo; Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show
The Story: The gang are attacked by a ghoul in the cemetary.
Notes: Vincent Van Ghoul makes a cameo in a projector image. Pebbles Flintstone again appears. According to this episode, talking dogs are a well-known category of animals known world-wide. Though that fact doesn't imply any crossovers, it is an important in-story reference that could be used to explain any other series that feature talking dogs as being perceived as normal, even in a world where other dogs don't talk, (for instance Brian on Family Guy).



SEASON 2 EPISODE 8 "NIGHT ON HAUNTED MOUNTAIN"
Release Date: August 8, 2012
The Story: A monster is attacking people climbing Mount Diablo. Maybe you just don't climb the "Devil's Mountain", eh?
Notes: This episode helps establish that Crystal Cove is in California. Hot Dog Water Girl dresses at Lilith, a figure from Jewish folklore who actually exists in the TVCU.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 9 "GRIM JUDGEMENT"
Release Date: August 9, 2012
Other Crosses: Beverly Hills 90210; Hart to Hart
The Story: Hebediah Grim terrorizes Lovers Lane.
Notes: Brenda and Dylan have another romantic moment interrupted by a monster. It's revealed that in this universe, Dylan's last name is Ryan rather than McKay. Of course they also live in Crystal Cove rather than Beverly Hills in this timeline and are much younger than their TVCU counterparts. Not a crossover but more of a parody, Brad and Judy are Fred's real parents and members of the original Mystery Inc that operated in the 1970s in this timeline. They later went on to have their own TV show, Sternum to Sternum, a parody of the classic show, Hart to Hart. It amused me to then think that in some other timeline in the Scooby multiverse, the show Hart to Hart is really about Fred and Daphne if they had aged in real time following the original Scooby-Doo series.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 10 "NIGHT TERRORS"
Release Date: August 10, 2012 (Set in the winter)
Animated Series Crosses: Scooby-Doo! Animated Film Series; Scooby-Doo Where Are You; All Hanna-Barbera mystery solving teen series
Other Crosses: Lost; Sherlock Holmes
The Story: The gang find themselves snowed in at a creepy library.
Notes: The villain is disguised as Anubis, the Egyptian God who is in the TVCU a very real being. The Hex Girls appear in a poster. The Hex Girls originated on the Scooby animated film series, but have since shown up in numerous Scooby timelines. The gang wear the same alternate winter outfits seen in Where Are You episode "That's Snow Ghost". This episode sets up a premise that Mystery Inc are part of a legacy of mystery solving groups, all of which have some sort of animal mascot. The Lost numbers are referenced, written on a picture in Mr. E's trunk. The wood that produces the toxic/hallucineginic black smoke that affects the gang is like the plant root from the Sherlock Holmes adventure, "The Adventure of the Devil's Foot".



SEASON 2 EPISODE 11 "THE MIDNIGHT ZONE"
Release Date: August 13, 2012
Animated Series Crosses: Moby Dick (Hanna-Barbera); Sealab 2020
Other Crosses: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
The Story: Deep sea robots.
Notes: This story features Tom, Tub, and Scooby the Seal from the animated Moby Dick series. In this timeline though, Moby Dick is a vehicle whereas Moby Dick was a real whale in the previous animated series, though probably not the same Moby Dick from the original novel. Tom and Tub's fathers are Dr. Paul Williams and Captain Michael Murphy from Sealab 2020, though clearly this story doesn't take place in 2020. In this timeline, the events of Sealab 2020 must have happened earlier. The robots are the same as seen in Sky Captain. Since the robots were supposed to have been underwater since the 1930s, it makes sense.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 12 "SCAREBEAR"
Release Date: August 14, 2012
The Story: A mutant bear terrorizes the state park.
Notes: No crossovers, though there are allusions the THE THING and GRIZZLY MAN.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 13 "WRATH OF THE KRAMPUS"
Release Date: August 15, 2012 [Set during the holiday season]
Animated Series Crosses: Scooby-Doo Where Are You
The Story: An evil goat man calling himself Krampus sends that gang on a quest.
Notes: The Krampus of course is a figure from Eastern European folklore that exists within the TVCU. The Krampus' jollier counterpart, Santa Claus is also referenced. Classic Scooby villains are also referenced. Another legend significant to this episode is Nibiru from Babylonian mythology.

The Story: Dr. Zin wreaks havoc on Crystal Cove.
Notes: This origin is only canon in this timeline, but it doesn't contradict the origins in the other timelines. Dr. Benton Quest created Dynomutt!!!!!! Johnny Quest already has been shown to exist in this timeline, having had adventures in his original time period of the 1960s in this timeline. Dynomutt was created by Dr. Quest in this timeline five years prior to the episode. At the point of this episode, Blue Falcon and Dynomutt had been operating for a while in their own city (Big City?).



SEASON 2 EPISODE 15 "THEATER OF THE DOOMED"

Animated Series Crosses: Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby-Doo
The Story: The gang become actors in a play in order to investigate a mystery at a theater.
Notes: Vincent Van Ghoul is leading the play. This episode again confirms that Crystal Cove is on the west coast by the Pacific Ocean.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 16 "ALIENS AMONG US"
Release Date: January 27, 2013
Other Crosses: Jonah Hex
The Story: The sheriff claims to have been abducted by aliens.
Notes: The sheriff says that when he was a child, he pretended he was Dead Justice. As previously established, Dead Justice is this timeline's Jonah Hex. Geographical coordinates for Gatorsburg are given. The specific coordinates in the real world would be a warehouse for set lighting owned by Castle Rock Entertainment, a subsidiary of Warner Bros, located in Burbank California. So Gatorsburg is where Burbank would be in most timelines. This means that Crystal Cove is also near Los Angeles.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 17 "THE HORRIBLE HERD"
Release Date: February 3, 2013
The Story: Supernatural skull cattle...
Notes: No crossovers in the one, but it should be noted that the mutated skull cattle act very similarly to Xenomorphs from the Alien franchise, and also that in another timeline, that of Shaggy and Scooby Get a Clue, Scooby and Shaggy also encountered mutated skull cattle in the episode "Scooby Dudes".



SEASON 2 EPISODE 18 "DANCE OF THE UNDEAD"
Release Date: March 17, 2013
Animated Series Crosses: Scooby-Doo! (Modern Animated Film Series); A Pup Named Scooby-Doo; New Scooby-Doo Movies
The Story: Dancing Zombies. It's a thriller.
Notes: The Hex Girls make their second appearance in this timeline. HB News appears. This network (Hanna-Barbera News?) also appears in Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon. Scooby's full name is revealed to be Scoobert just as it was in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. Mama Cass appears again, a celebrity that once appeared on the New Scooby-Doo Movies. She is deceased in the real world at this point.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 19 "THE DEVOURING"
Release Date: March 23, 2013
The Story: A monster menaces a cooking show.
Notes: No crossovers, but I'll mention this is the second appearances of Dr. Rick Spartan and of Francilee Jackson. Francilee is inspired by Paula Dean. Spartan is a jungle adventurer who is a bit of Doc Savage conflated with Allan Quatemain.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 20 "STAND AND DELIVER"
Release Date: March 28, 2013
Horror Crosses: An American Werewolf in London; Twin Peaks
Other Crosses: Stand and Deliver; Brady Bunch
The Story: Crystal Cove is haunted by an 18th century English highwayman.
Notes: The Dandy Highwayman of this story is of course not really a ghost, but he is meant to be the dandy highwayman from the Adam Ant song "Stand and Deliver". Scooby's dream involves Nazi zombies that also appeared in An American Werewolf in London. His dream then brings him to the red room from Twin Peaks. The Dancing Man also appears. (And the Dancing Man is voiced by the same actor who played him in Twin Peaks!) Jan Brady is an eyewitness, complaining about "Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!"



SEASON 2 EPISODE 21 "THE MAN IN THE MIRROR"
Release Date: March 29, 2013
The Story: A sentient mirror?
Notes: No crossovers, but it should be noted that Fred's evil parents try to mislead the gang into believing in the existence of a "mirror universe". Of course, we know that every TVCU timeline does have its own mirror universe. They use a mirror as a fake portal to the other realm. We also know that in the Television Crossover Multiverse, mirrors can actually act as portals between realms. Also, for the first time ever, Fred says "Scooby-Doo, where are you?"



SEASON 2 EPISODE 22 "NIGHTMARE IN RED"
Release Date: April 2, 2013
Horror Crosses: Twin Peaks; Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos.
The Story: The gang is hypnotized.
Notes: Scooby continues to get nightmares in the red room with the dancing man. In this story, the sitting room is a space that connects all time, space and dimensions. It is a counterpart to the Black Lodge. While the Black Lodge contains the worst aspects of people, the sitting room contains the best parts. It's revealed that the dancing man is the best aspect of Professor Horatio Kharon of Miskatonic University.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 23 "DARK KNIGHT OF THE HUNTERS"
Release Date: April 3, 2013
The Story: The team searches Mayan ruins for answers.
Notes: No crossovers, but some things worth noting. This episode again confirms Crystal Cove on the west coast. This is the first time the gang has traveled out of state. This is another episode demonstrating that mystery solving teen groups with their weird talking animal mascots are a thing that continues to happen through the manipulation of an evil mastermind. This episode establishes that Scooby and Shaggy have been pals since Scooby was a puppy in this timeline as well.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 24 "GATES OF GLOOM"
Release Date: April 4, 2013
Horror Crosses: Vronski Presents...
Animated Series Crosses: Scooby-Doo Where Are You
The Story: Professor Pericles searches for the entrance to the cavern that holds both treasure and the evil entity responsible for all the mystery solving teen groups.
Notes: Not canon, but Currator Vronsky appears again, who I claim to be Vonski from my Super Comics stories. Space Kook is seen at the destroyed Spook Museum. Howard E. Robert (say it backwards) also reappears.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 25 "THROUGH THE CURTAIN"
Release Date: April 5, 2013
The Story: Our heroes continue their journey through the underground caverns.
Notes: No crossovers in this episode but this is part two of a three part season finale. Hot Dog Water Girl is actually murdered, shot to death by Professor Pericles, off screen, in this episode, which is probably one of the most graphic things ever seen (or heard) on Cartoon Network during the day when the viewing audience is young children.



SEASON 2 EPISODE 26 "COME UNDONE"
Release Date: April 5, 2013 (Setting is summer after high school graduation)
Horror Crosses: Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos
The Story: The gang learns that friendship is magic.
Notes: The series ends with the timeline being altered. In the new timeline, there had never been any mysterious goings-on in Crystal Cove. The gang who have now graduated high school are the only ones who remember the old timeline, along with Harlan Ellison who is now teaching at Miskatonic University. The gang is enrolled at Miskatonic for the following semester, and they decide to drive across the country, solving every mystery they encounter along the way. A laugh track is heard, reminiscent of the original Saturday morning cartoons.
