TGIF stands for Thank God It's Friday traditionally, but from 1988 to 2000, it stood for Thank Goodness It's Funny. During those years, ABC had a Friday night block of programming from 8PM to 10PM that was family oriented programming, and admittedly, my family was in that market audience. Some of these programs crossed with each other, and at least one crosses into the greater Television Crossover Universe, pulling all other other shows in with it. Have Mercy! Since not all of the shows from TGIF have crossed, I'm not going with an automatic presumption that they are in. This blog will only cover TGIF shows that have valid connection to the TVCU, by starting with Perfect Strangers (which is brought in via a cross with Happy Days), and from there, Perfect Strangers connects to Family Matters, the show that, God help us, introduced Steve Urkel, the crossover glue of the TGIF TVCU.
