When one travels from their galaxy to ours, they travel through worm holes that also send one through time. It is possible the droids at one time in our ancient past arrived on Earth. The All-Star Squadron is in the TVCU because of the graphic novel THE GOLDEN AGE, which is connected to STARMAN, who has met BATMAN and HELLBOY, as detailed in CROSSOVERS. However, it needs to be said that in the TVCU, the general public was not aware of these "mystery men" who worked with the FBI.
1943--CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER--Captain America pursues Krueger in his car, and climbs toward the front along the passenger side. When he reaches the front, Krueger shoots him. These are likely the grey aliens from X-FILES and other series and movies. However, how they got there is another story. Just prior to their crash, a space craft from the 24th century arrived in Roswell. Three Ferengi are captured until rescued by their shape shifter companion. They return to the future (STAR TREK: VOYAGER), however leaving an opening from which the Planet Express crew from the 31st century are pulled backward. While the ship's doctor is examined by the military, another crew member (originally from the late 20th century) creates a paradox by becoming his own grandfather (FUTURAMA). Thus when they escape, they leave behind a nexus that draws the Grey Aliens to Earth and also makes Earth a target for invasions from other worlds.

Upon luring the guard away, Michael Eisner tries to rip out Peter’s heart parodying Mola Ram from Temple of Doom, but falls down a cliff by the Jungle Cruise and is ripped apart by crocodiles. During a cut-away scene Peter is conducting the Tusken Raider Choir. The Tusken Raiders run away, when Obi-Wan Kenobi enters to say that the Sand People frighten easily but they'll be back and in greater numbers. This specific line is a scene from Star Wars. In the scene where Peter rescues Stewie from “It’s a Tiny World” and Ahmed the guard goes after them, Peter’s line to distract him, “Hey, look over there! There’s a woman learning!” was cut on the FOX version, presumably because it would cause offense to Muslims. The Adult Swim and DVD versions have the line intact. When Peter’s socially awkward and “burden of the state” supervisor, Opie, is promoted, the evil Decepticon Soundwave (from The Transformers) inherits his job. Soundwave has a wife he met in a Christian chat room, and carries a picture of his family that transforms into a cassette tape. Compared to “When You Wish Upon a Weinstein”, it had previously established Optimus Prime, leader of the opposing Autobots, as Jewish. Peter realizes that Stewie has run off whilst they are shopping in a Disney shop. He spots the Crows from the Disney film Dumbo sitting in the shop. He asks them if they have seen Stewie. The response: "Well I done seen about everything but I sure no seen your boy no how" in an African dialect. Peter's response is the same: "Ahh, that's good old fashioned family racism."

Al-Hazred is mentioned, known to have written the Necronomicon of the Cthulhu Mythos of Lovecraft. Carnacki is also mentioned. The book ties into Bram Stoker’s novel Jewel of the Seven Stars. Holmes and his supporting cast figure in this tale, as does a character from the novel Howard’s End. Philip Marlowe is another famed literary detective. Gees and Leffing are more literary occult detectives, who appear in Episode Three. A reference to the Lost Ark of the Covenant in Episode Three brings Indiana Jones into the Horror Universe, and appropriately so.
Once Upon a Time--JACK AND THE BEANSTALK--Looking through the book of quests, the booker finds "the ark of the covenant" and then adds, "That's reserved for the chap with the hat and the whip."
GLIMMERGLASS: THE CREATIVE WRITER’S ANNUAL, VOLUME 1 “THE BEAST” (STORY BY JOHN SMALL)
Release Date: October 15, 2009 (Setting is 1700s to Contemporary Times)
Series: King Kong (Original)
Horror Crosses: King Kong (2005 remake); War of the Worlds (novel); War of the Worlds (radio); The Mummy (remake film series); Jurassic Park (film series); Kong: the Animated Series; Jurassic Park (novel)
Non-Horror Crosses: Buckaroo Banzai; Tarzan; Flash Gordon; Tales of the Gold Monkey; Journey to the Center of the Earth; Tales of the Shadowmen; Doc Savage; Indiana Jones; Mighty Joe Young; A-Team; Fu Manchu
The Story: Author John Small discovers that the film King Kong was based on true events and gathers research on the true events of the film and the follow-up events that have happened since.
Notes: John Small uses a popular Farmerian method (named for Philip Jose Farmer) in which he places himself in the world of fiction, imagining that fictional stories are based on true events. Here, he melds together the original Kong story, and its sequels, prequels, and remakes, and makes them all fit into one coherent reality. Along the way, he throws in references to other fictional characters who must have been involved in such events based on their stature and the nature of the event. John Small makes official my conjecture that the 2005 film by Peter Jackson is the same events as the original film, just retold with dramatic license from Mr. Jackson. In explaining how the events of Kong could have happened in a world where most people are unaware of the supernatural and the extraordinary, he references other events that have later been covered up, despite their overly public exposure, such as the 1898 and 1938 Martian invasions from War of the Worlds, and the invasion of Mongo from Flash Gordon. DOC SAVAGE and TARZAN employ Denham to return to Skull Island to do documentary filming. Skull Island is said to be "the Menace of the Monsters". Joining in on the expedition were INDIANA JONES, Alex O'Connell (famous for taking down THE MUMMY), and Joshua Williams (from "Joshua Williams Breaks a Date"). (TARZAN couldn't make it due to events seen in TARZAN ALIVE). Roland Tembo is among the expedition as well. Tembo's CINEVERSE counterpart appears in THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK. SON OF KONG is a fictionalized version of events that actually happened during this expedition. In Kong Reborn, Dr. Jill Drake is involved in this incident. Jill discovers that BUCKAROO BANZAI has moved a clone of KING KONG to BANDUKI. It may be that the events of KONG: THE ANIMATED SERIES may be based on these events, which involve a female scientist who clones Kong then has to release him in a suitable environment. It was followed by KONG: KING OF ATLANTIS and KONG: RETURN TO THE JUNGLE. Among the crew that journeys to Skull Island in the first expedition is Jake Cutter (TALES OF THE GOLD MONKEY). Kong is of the same species as seen in JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, TARZAN AT THE EARTH'S CORE, and TALES OF THE SHADOWMEN 3: DANSE MACABRE "The Ape Gigans". Mighty Joe Young is also connected to Kong and one of Denham’s grandsons is tied in as a villain on an episode of the A-Team. Fu Manchu is also said to be the villain secretly behind Jurassic Park.

THE GAME IS AFOOT “THE ADVENTURE OF THE DEATH-FETCH” (SHORT STORY BY DARRELL SCHWEITZER)
Release Date: February 15, 1995 (Setting is 19th Century)
Series: Sherlock Holmes
Horror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos
Non-Horror Crosses: Indiana Jones (see Notes)
The Story: Another case involving the Cthulhu Mythos!
Notes: There is a moment where the bloated corpse of an archaeologist named Jones is found in the jungle. Surely this is meant to invoke Indiana Jones, but since this story takes place before Jones was even born, and since we know his father didn’t die in the 19th century either, we can’t count this as a real crossover but it’s worth mentioning due to the implied crossover. The Lovecraft crossover however is very solid. I guess there must be more than one archaeologist named Jones in the world.

FIVE GHOSTS # 1 - ONGOING AT TIME OF WRITING (IMAGE COMICS)
Release Date: 2013 - Ongoing at time of writing (Setting is 1938 thus far)
Series: Five Ghosts
Horror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos; Dracula (Bram Stoker)
Non-Horror Crosses: Sherlock Holmes; Othello; Lost Horizon; Indiana Jones; A Thousand and One Nights; The Tempest; 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea; Sandman (Vertigo)
The Story: Treasure hunter Fabian Gray finds the Dreamstone which causes him to share his body with the ghosts of Sherlock Holmes, Dracula, Merlin, Robin Hood, and Miyamoto Musashi. At the same time, his sister’s soul is taken by the Old Gods. Using the abilities of those whose souls he possesses, he must quest to retrieve his sister’s soul. In his opposition are agents of the Old Ones, including Iago the Betrayer.
Notes: At this writing, the series has had 12 issues and is still going. It has completed two story arcs. Sherlock Holmes is not dead at this time, based on the bulk of Holmes stories that currently exist as canon with the Horror Universe. However, this doesn’t mean we have to place this in a divergent reality. Based on the research of my colleague James Bojaciuk, there seems to be some evidence that there was a tulpa who embodied the characteristics of Sherlock Holmes, and perhaps that tulpa is the ghost of this story. The Dracula of this story probably is the original from Bram Stoker’s novel, and yet I’m still going to apply the soul clone theory here. Part of the theory is that while Dracula rests in the soil of his home, he astrally projects himself out to control his clones. It could be that the Dreamstone intercepted Dracula’s astral form. Miyamoto Musashi is a real historical figure who lived from 1584 to 1645. Robin Hood and Merlin were legendary figures possibly based on real figures. These three do not count as crossovers. Iago is from Shakespeare’s Othello. The first story arc concludes in Shangra-La from Lost Horizon. Besides having the Old Ones as the main bad guys, Lovecraft himself appears to assist the nameless, villainous conspiracy. Lovecraft has a notebook which has notes about Dunwich, the Necronomicon, and Cthulhu. Lovecraft died a year before this story takes place. Either he died later in the Horror Universe, or he somehow was resurrected. This isn’t the first story to portray Lovecraft as being more involved in the actual mythos that he wrote about. In the second arc, Fabian has a Sankara Stone shipped to his house. The Sankara Stones are from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Fabian meets a female pirate who is possessed by the ghost of Sinbad. One of Fabian’s foes is possessed by Caliban. The story conflates the island from the Tempest with Jules Verne’s Mysterious Island. The witch who rules the island fears the island will sink back into the Dreaming.

1939--INDIANA JONES AND THE SARGASSO PIRATES--Indiana comes upon an island where the people stranded there are descendants of pirates, living there their whole life, and only knowing the pirate life. Indy escapes leaving them there. I wonder if these are the same pirates SUPERMAN later discovers.

When Nazis break into her lab, she's forced to drink the formula, giving her superhuman strength and invulnerability but only after she has sex. This graphic novel also has crossover connections with DOC SAVAGE, INDIANA JONES, AMELIA EARHART, FRANKLIN AND ELEANOR ROOSEVELT, WINSTON CHURCHILL, THE SPEAR OF DESTINY, PRESTOR JOHN, CASABLANCA, AFRICAN QUEEN, and MARX BROTHERS.
November 1939--INDIANA JONES AND THE RELIC OF GOTHAM--Little known artist Bob Kane finds a relic that is sought after by Nazis and INDIANA JONES, bringing them all to Gotham, where Batman and the Joker get involved.
Spring 1940—STAR WARS TALES # 19—“Into the Great Uknown”—Indiana Jones and Short Round discover the remains of the Millenium Falcon and it’s captain. They do not discover Chewbacca, who watches them from a distance.
1940--INDIANA JONES: THE DANCE OF DEATH--Indy fights the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He seems to kill them, but that's impossible, and they will return again in the TVCU.
LANCE STAR - SKY RANGER “SHADOWS OVER KUNLUN” (SHORT STORY BY WIN SCOTT ECKERT)
Release Date: 2006 (Setting is Winter 1941)
Series: Lance Star
Horror Crosses: The Films of Tarantino and Rodriguez (See Notes); Shock
Non-Horror Crosses: Doc Savage; James Lee; Doc Ardan; Fu Manchu; Indiana Jones; Red Falcon; Iron Fist
The Story: Lance Star and his team are sent by the government on a mission to Tibet to find a legendary war ace.
Notes: This anthology was a collection of new stories about the classic pulp hero Lance Star....who never actually existed as a classic pulp. In reality, he is an original character created cleverly for this anthology. Red Apple Cigarettes appear in this story. The story also features the Belmont Arms hotel in San Francisco. This is from the film Shock, which is more of a thriller than a horror film, but close enough for me. Doc Savage elements are sprinkled throughout the story. One of the team’s government contacts is a man named Lee, who is James Lee, the star of his own series of espionage and mystery stories. The villain of this tale is Doctor Natas, who in Doc Ardan: City of Gold and Lepers was shown to actually be Fu Manchu, while Ardan himself was actually Doc Savage. At one point, Star refers to a bookworm archaeology professor who defeated the Thuggee. This is Indiana Jones. Finally, the ace being sought after is revealed to be the Red Falcon, who is the grandfather of the Marvel Comics hero Iron Fist. Note that this brings in Marvel’s Iron Fist, but only his solo stories during the first 20-ish years from his first appearance, as Marvel doesn’t age their characters normally, but the Horror Universe does move normally in time, so Iron Fist would be realistically too old by the mid to late 1990s to keep adventuring. Also, this does not bring in any team-ups between Iron Fist and other comic book heroes.
April to May 1941--INDIANA JONES AND THE GOLDEN FLEECE--Indy and the Nazis race to find the Golden Fleece.
Summer 1941--INDIANA JONES AND GENGHIS KHAN'S SWORD--Indy finds Genghis Khan's cursed sword.
Late 1941--INDIANA JONES AND THE SECRET OF THE EASTER ISLANDS--The Nazis have set up a base on Easter Island.
December 9 to 10, 1941--ALL-STAR SQUADRON # 5 to 6--"Never Step on a Feathered Serpent/Mayhem in the Mile-High City"--Indiana Jones is mentioned, as are the events of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.
The same thing happens to Indy during the Desert Chase scene in Raiders. Director 'Joe Johnston' was in the special effects crew of that film as well. Additionally, the Red Skull scoffs, "And the Fuehrer digs for trinkets in the desert.'' This refers to the plot of Raiders.
1944--THE DEVIL'S ROCK--Demon says "[Hitler] had within his grasp the Ark of the Covenant"
ALISON DARE, LITTLE MISS ADVENTURES (GRAPHIC NOVEL BY J. TORRES AND J. BONE)
Release Date: 2002 (Setting is 1944)
Series: Alison Dare
Horror Crosses: Hellboy (Comics)
Non-Horror Crosses: Indiana Jones; Tintin
The Story: Alison returns to school and has adventures that would rival Indiana Jones or Lara Croft.
Notes: Alison Dare is the child adventurer of a series of young adult graphic novels. Tintin briefly appears in cameo and a picture of Indiana Jones appears. In Alison’s mom’s museum are the Ark of the Covenant, Sankara Stones (from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom), the broken ear statue (from Tintin and the Broken Ear), and the Right Hand of Doom. The Right Hand of Doom is Hellboy’s right hand, but this is prior to Hellboy’s birth. However, the Hellboy mythos indicate that there have been previous demons who wielded the power of the Right Hand of Doom.
March 1945--INDIANA JONES AND THE SPEAR OF DESTINY--Indy and his father head into Russia to retrieve the Spear of Destiny, captured by the Soviets from the Germans after Germany's defeat. Hitler had possession of the Spear during the war, which he used to prevent American super-humans from invading.
THE AVENGER CHRONICLES “TIDES OF JUSTICE” (STORY BY RICHARD DEAN STARR)
Release Date: 2008 (Setting is 1945)
Series: The Avenger
Horror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos
Non-Horror Crosses: Indiana Jones
The Story: Late war-time story involving the Manhattan Project and espionage.
Notes: One of the scientists on the Manhattan Project is from Miskatonic University, famous from Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. Two agents that appear are meant to be the same agents who secured the Ark at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
1947--INDIANA JONES AND THE INFERNAL MACHINE--Indy and the Soviets race to find the parts to an ancient machine that can allow travel to alternate dimensions.
July 1947--INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL--Indy is called in to consult when an alien craft and it's inhabitants is captured. SPIDER-MAN: THE GATHERING OF THE SINISTER SIX (NOVEL)
Release Date: March 1, 1999 (Contemporary Setting)
Series: Spider-Man
Horror Crosses: Scooby-Doo! (revival film series)
Non-Horror Crosses: Invaders; Captain America; Human Torch (golden age); Sub-Mariner; Casablanca; Hulk; Jackie Chan Adventures; Terry and the Pirates; Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal; Fargo; Trading Places/Coming to America; The Great Race; North by Northwest; Indiana Jones; Marathon Man; Smilin’ Jack; Iron Man; Sherlock Holmes; Die Hard; Fu Manchu; James Bond; Superman (modern age); Law & Order; Ellery Queen; Batman (Burton/Schumacher film series): Usual Suspects; Carmen Sandiego; Unbreakable; Maltese Falcon; NYPD Blue
The Story: A new Sinister Six is formed.
Notes: Because of the appearance of the Mystery, Inc team, and not as 40-somethings, this must be the team from the newer animated films that started with Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island. This film series continues with all the previous animated series as canon. In Zombie Island, the gang are all adults, post college. Velma has a Master’s degree. The team had split up and in Zombie Island are reunited. So the “kids” here are now in the mid-20s, in a time period that is contemporary with release dates based on pop culture and technology. In the Horror Universe, the “kids” should be in their 40s. Furthermore, based on evidence from Looney Tunes: Back in Action, it’s likely the revival films are fictional in the Horror Universe, being fictional films about Mystery, Inc. However, Mystery Incorporated (in a divergent timeline) has an appearance of the Hex Girls, a fictional band that originated in revival series film Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost. Based on the crossover rules I am using, that would place the revival film series if not in the Horror Universe main timeline, at least in a divergent timeline. And indeed, it must be placed in a divergent timeline. Thus,Spider-Man: Gathering of the Sinister Six should be placed in that divergent timeline.

2005--MERCENARIES: PLAYGROUND OF DESTRUCTION--During a news report a ticker message reads "Egyptian artifact found packed in crate in government warehouse since 1936." Indiana Jones is an unlockable skin.
November 2005--FAMILY GUY--"The Courtship of Stewie's Father"--Peter, dressed as Indiana Jones and Stewie, dressed as Short Round are chased by a turban-wearing guard named Ahmed through a mineshaft, parodying Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
2006--SIGILLET--Treasure hidden i a large warehouse
2007--MERCENARIES: PLAYGROUND OF DESTRUCTION--An Indiana Jones who appears to be in his 30s is seen in North Korea. It's unclear if this was due to time travel, rejuvination, cloning, mistaken identity or a relative.

February 2008--FAMILY GUY--"Back to the Woods"--James Woods is carted away, like the Ark, by "top men..."

November 2010--SIMPSONS--"How Munched is that Birdie in the Window?"--Marge says, "Everyone has animals they can't stand. Indiana Jones had snakes."
THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UNCANNY (NOVEL BY SIMON R. GREEN)
Release Date: December 28, 2010 (Contemporary Setting, about a month after Just Another Judgement Day)
Series: Nightside
Horror Crosses: Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde; War of the Worlds (novel); Twin Peaks; The Monkey’s Paw; Carnacki Ghost Finder; Ghost Finders; Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos; Rocky Horror Picture Show!
Non-Horror Crosses: Deathstalker; Allan Quatermain; Shadows Fall; Secret Histories; Solomon Kane; Indiana Jones; The Mysterious Wu Fang; the Continental Op; The Coming Race; Captain America; Spider-Man
The Story: John Taylor is hired to escort an elf through the Nightside.
Notes: At a drug den, two users of the Hyde formula are fighting for sport. Previous Nightside stories have established the Hyde formula to now be a street drug, and other stories that take place in the Horror Universe outside the Nightside have also established this. Jacqueline Jekyll appears again. She has appeared or has been mentioned in previous Nightside stories. Another drug is Martian Red Weed (from War of the Worlds). This drug has been seen in other Nightside stories. There is some dialogue in the story that suggests that the Nightside exists in the same reality as Twin Peaks. There is “A Hand of Glory”, similar to The Monkey’s Paw. Another character mentions the Carnacki Institute, which is from Green’s Ghost Finders series, a spin-off of the Carnacki Ghost Finder stories. The Collector has stuffed giant albino penguins (as in Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness). He also has a grandfather clock with a cobweb covered skeleton inside, just as the one in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This story brings the Rocky Horror Picture Show into the Horror Universe. Likely, the musical demon known by some as Mr. Sweet, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode “Once More With Feeling”, must have been behind the scenes of those events. At the drug den, there is a street drug called Blood. This is a drug from the futuristic Deathwalker series also by Green. Another drug is taduku, which was used by Allan Quatermain. The elf’s destination is Shadows Fall. There are several references to Green’s Secret Histories. Green is one of the great crossover writers who likes to remind us that all of his series are in the same shared reality. Salvation Kane is mentioned again, clearly a pseudonym for Solomon Kane. Larry Oblivion states that he wants to be the Nightside’s Indiana Jones. Though this sounds like a pop culture reference, considering all the crossovers in the Nightside series, I’m assuming it to be a reference to a real person. There is a gambling den run by Wu Fang, once a famous villain of the pulps. This story features the family of Dash Oblivion, better known as the pulp hero called the Continental Op. He is said to have fought villains like Wu Fang, Vril Inc. (a reference to the Coming Race), and the Nazi Skull (likely meaning the Red Skull, foe of Captain America). The Collector mentions having regrown his leg much in the same way as Spider-Man’s foe, the Lizard. By now, I shouldn’t have to explain how comic book super-heroes work in the Horror Universe, but if you’re still not clear, go back to the first page and start over.
March 2011--COMMUNITY--"Critical Film Studies"--Abed says that he thought he had purchased "Indiana Jones's real whip" from a seller on eBay, but then he found out it was a fake.
June 2011--WHITE COLLAR--"Where There's a Will"--The Ark of the Covenant appears among the treasures in the upper left corner of the image shown by Mozzie's "treasure camera".
FROM HELL WITH LOVE: A SECRET HISTORIES NOVEL (NOVEL BY SIMON R. GREEN)
Release Date: June 7, 2011 (Contemporary Setting)
Series: Secret Histories
Horror Crosses: War of the Worlds (novel); The Crystal Egg; Nightside; Suspiria; Carnacki Ghost Finder; Ghost Finders; Doctor Faustus; Evil Dead; Frankenstein (novel); Frankenstein (Universal); Frankenstein (and some others): Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos
Non-Horror Crosses: The Man from UNCLE; James Bond; Shadows Fall; Doctor Who; Indiana Jones; I Dream of Jeannie: Solomon Kane; Area 52
The Story: The Droods battle Doctor Delirium and the Immortals over the Apocalypse Door.
Notes: An auction is selling a Martian Tripod and a Crystal Egg. This novel has several references to Green’s Nightside series. An auction attendee is Aunt Sally Darque, who was banned from every coven in Europe after that nasty affair at the dance academy in the German Black Forest. This is a reference to the film Suspiria. The Carnacki Institute is mentioned. Doctor Faustus is former owner of the Apocalypse Door. Archie Leech’s Kandarian Amulet is mentioned. The immortals are residing in Castle Frankenstein. The Droods are assisted by the Bride of Frankenstein and several other Frankenstein Monsters in taking the castle. In the Antarctic, Eddie sees a bizarre alien city within a mountain. This is likely a reference to At the Mountains of Madness, considering Green’s habit of throwing in a Lovecraft reference in every story. The war is compared to the rivalry between UNCLE and THRUSH or between James Bond and SPECTRE. Green also references his other series, Shadows Fall, a few times. At Drood Hall, there are several 19th century family members still alive because their aging was slowed during the Time War. Yes, Whovians, it’s likely that Time War, considering that Green tends to throw in at least one Doctor Who reference in each of his stories. Isabella Metcalf is compared to Indiana Jones. Jeannie (of I Dream of…) is listed among the immortals. There is a dead dragon under Castle Frankenstein, perhaps a reference to the Solomon Kane adventure, The Dragon of Castle Frankenstein. Eddie and Molly travel to Area 52 to stop the villain.
October 2011--CASTLE--"Eye of the Beholder"--Castle says to Serena, "So, you were kinda like the female Indiana Jones, only without the hat and whip?"
FOR HEAVEN’S EYES ONLY: A SECRET HISTORIES NOVEL (NOVEL BY SIMON R. GREEN)
Release Date: June 5, 2012 (Contemporary Setting, sometimes after the Good, the Bad and the Uncanny and just before Live and Let Drood)
Series: Secret Histories
Horror Crosses: Nightside; Frankenstein (novel); Suspiria; Carnacki Ghost Finder; Ghost Finders; Monkey’s Paw; Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos; Gravel
Non-Horror Crosses: Excalibur (Marvel); Indiana Jones; Area 52; The Steam Man on the Prairie; Harvey; Shadows Fall
The Story: A Satanic cult tries to bring Hell on Earth.
Notes: Every single series listed in the crosses above has already crossed with Secret Histories or Green’s other series, Nightside. Thus, it seems redundant to list them all again here.
July 2012--WAREHOUSE 13--"An Evil Within"--Myka's fear of tentacle is compared to I. Jones' fear of snakes.
November 2072--MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT--"Dressed to Kill"--the dress is put into a crate to be stored in a giant warehouse full of crates, just like the ending to the film
Fall 2265--THE FEDERATION HOLMES (NOVEL BY DANA MARTIN BATORY)
Release Date: 2001 (Setting is 2265 A.D.)
Series: Star Trek; Sherlock Holmes (See Notes)
Horror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos
Non-Horror Crosses: Lord of the Rings; Lost World; Indiana Jones; A.J. Raffles; The Saint; Journey to the Centre of the Earth; Pink Panther
The Story: On the Amusement Park Planet, a construct is made of Professor Moriarty from the stories of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The construct embraces his character so much that he leaves to embark on a life of real crime. Spock makes the logical deduction that only constructs of Holmes and Watson can stop him.
Notes: This is an anthology of interconnected stories by the same author. The premise is used to imagine Holmes in the world of Star Trek. Though Holmes is thought of here as a fictional character within the world of Star Trek, in Star Trek VI, Spock will claim Holmes as his ancestor (on his human side). It’s certainly realistic for people to confuse the worlds of fiction and reality after some time has passed. Think of all the people today who think that Lovecraftian lore is real, for instance. (It’s not, by the way.) In real life, ships and places are often named after other real places or historical figures. Thus, when writers are being clever, we get crossovers. In one of the stories, there are ships named the O.C. Marsh, the Cthulhu, the Arkham, the Sothoth, and the Alhazred, and there is a reference (curse) to the three Hells of Rlyeh. Those Lovecraftian references bring this story into the Horror Universe, though Star Trek has had other links mentioned elsewhere in this guide to connect it to the Horror Universe. Star Trek, of course, is in one of many possible alternate futures of the Horror Universe. Holmes sets up shop on Memory Alpha and finds copies of The Origin of Tree Worship (from the Lord of the Rings) and The Ladder of Life by Challenger (from the Lost World). A looter of an archaeological dig on Indiana IV is named Jones. A jewel thief is compared to Raffles and Templar (the Saint). There is an asteroid named Lidenbrock Alpha. Lidenbrock led the Journey to the Centre of the Earth. And there is a safe model P1I3N7K Panther.
2364--STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION--"Coming of Age"--There is a shuttle named the Indiana Jones Many vessels are named for real life explorers and scientists. This is a much clearer crossover.
2371--STAR TREK: VOYAGER--"The 37s"--The Voyager crew discovers Amelia Earhart in cryostasis in the Delta Zone. Apparently she was abducted. However, it's possible that this is a duplicate created during the transportation process. There have been several different explanations discovered in the TVCU for what happened to her. Note that INDIANA JONES, THE SHADOW, and DOC DARE also met Earhart.
ALTERNATE REALITIES:
GODZILLA DIVERGENT TIMELINE--In the alternate timeline where Godzilla rose and attached New York City in 1998, The insurance company Jean Reno claims to work for is named Lao Che, which is the same name as the villian at the beginning of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
LEGO UNIVERSE--The stories adapted by Lego are told slightly differently, thus take place in an alternate reality.
LOONIVERSE--This universe's Indiana Jones has appeared on TINY TOON ADVENTURES.
ROBOT CHICKEN UNIVERSE--Indy of his universe appears a few times.
ULTIMA DIVERGENT TIMELINE--In the divergent timeline of the Ultima games. particulary Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar, Short Round claims to work for "Jones" and says "I think Indi's on a quest!"
Coming up next, a blog from TVCU blogger James Bojaciuk.
Hi, Robert!
ReplyDeleteLoved this chronology, but I must say that Th Titanic also appeared in The Time Tunnel and all famous gunslingers – including Wyatt Earp and Billy The Kid - appeareed in a 69 The Three Stooges movie, called The Outlaw Is Coming http://www.flickr.com/photos/paxtonholley/4875284545/
I haven't yet determined if the Time Tunnel is in the Television Crossover Universe since there doesn't seem to be any crossover connections. (I don't count real people as connectors.) I actually have listed The Outlaw is coming in my Three Stooges blog, with mentions of Earp and Billy, so I'm kind of disappointed in myself for forgetting to mention it, and in IMDB for also forgetting. LOL. This time next year, when I post an update of this blog, I'll make sure to make those corrections.
ReplyDeleteLots of good stuff here, including many stories I haven't heard before (I assume that many are in those Indiana Jones comic anthologies that keep popping up in my Amazon recommendations). Also, I really must watch INDIANA JONES AND THE RELIC OF GOTHAM one of these days.
ReplyDelete"Early 1934--INDIANA JONES AND THE HOLLOW EARTH--???"
This one I have heard of, and even read. Ha ha.
One pedantic point of correction - the Star Trek episode with the Ferengi at Roswell, "Little Green Men", was a DS9 episode, not Voyager.
I knew it was DS9. My fingers apparently didn't.
ReplyDeleteis lego all in one universe then?
ReplyDeleteYes, Lego is its own separate reality with all its original and licensed characters.
ReplyDeleteIn the section "THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UNCANNY (NOVEL BY SIMON R. GREEN)" is a mention of the Hand of Glory. A Hand of Glory appeared on The Dresden Files "Walls".
ReplyDelete
