Television Crossover Universe

I wasn't sure what I wanted to talk about this Christmas. But then I remembered I had written the following for Television Crossover Universe: Worlds and Mythology Volume II, a book that I started but then ran out of steam. The book is likely never to be published, but I put a lot of work into this essay which is complete so why not publish it here?  I've previously covered the works of Stephen King and their adaptations, and then covered Children of the Corn in a separate post. I recently watched the early adaptations of Stephen King for my October watch and was thinking about how two different versions of the Dead Zone are in the TVCU.  Both the original novel and the television series are connected to the TVCU.  This kind of weird coincidence where similar versions of the same character exist in the same universe are not uncommon in the TVCU.  Different versions of Superman exist in the same universe.  The American and British Office have crossed.  Baywatch the movie exists in the same universe as the tv series.  They are even working on a way for Ghosts UK and Ghosts USA to crossover.   So here is my post on the Dead Zone.   THE DEAD ZONE (NOVEL BY STEPHEN KING) Release Date: August 1979 (Contemporary Setting) Series: Stephen King Universe (works of Stephen King) The Story:...

  So this is not going to be a chronology, and it's not even really about crossovers.  Sometimes the TVCU is about reconciling different versions of the same character.   I recently watched Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and there will be slight spoilers here, so you've been warned.   As I watched the movie, my brain kept thinking of how the cartoon could fit in the same universe as this sequel.   So following the events of the first film, and prior to the first episode of the cartoon, Betelgeuse and Lydia became friends, and Adam and Barbara went away.  The second is explained in the sequel.  Lydia found a loophole in the Handbook that allowed the couple to pass on.  That would have happened prior to the cartoon.  Perhaps Betelgeuse helped with this and that's how they became friends.   Then would follow the wonderful animated series.   Following the animated series, Betelgeuse, having fallen in love with Lydia, ...

 Well, it's the 12th anniversary of the TVCU.
