This Island Earth

Every Thursday I will be posting excerpts from the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia that is related to film or television.  Today's focus is on This Island Earth, a 1950s film that is more sci-fi than horror, but is considered a horror series by me because it introduces the Metaluna Mutant, who is considered by Scary Monsters Magazine as one of the classic Universal Monsters, and is featured in their Monster Kombat series. Notes: The Metaluna Mutant is from This Island Earth. Th...

In-Con-Ceivable 2015

Image
TVCU Crew members Robert E. Wronski, Jr. and "Crazy" Ivan Ronald Schablotski will be attending In-Con-Ceibable 2015 at the Clarion Hotel in Northampton, MA August 28 - 30. Robert will be working at the registration desk all three days, and though he won't be selling at the event, if you bring a copy of the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia to the event, he will gladly sign your copy for you.  (For free, of course.) Anyone who follows Ivan's cosplay blog knows that if you show up at a con that he's attending, and are wearing a cool and original costume, you could end up being featured on our website as part of Ivan's continuing adventures. Click on this link for more information on the event.

ゴジラ Gojira Godzilla

ゴジラ  GOJIRA GODZILLA King of Monsters! Godzilla! A Primal force of nature manifest as an impossibly large dinosaur-inspired nuclear monster!  Also, a primal force of pop-culture manifest in movies, television shows, comic books, cartoons, novels, video games, lunch-boxes, and every form of toy or collectible imaginable!  There is no denying the impact Godzilla has had on both eastern and western culture. Godzilla is something like Superman or Transformers in that there are multiple overlapping contradictory continuities within the franchise. However, with few exceptions, these reboots and retcons maintain a single point of origin for the character; most variations claim the 1954 film GODZILLA as the cornerstone of their individual Godzilla timelines. As this article is about Godzilla in the Television and Movie Crossover Universe, no single established Godzilla continuity will be considered 'correct' over the others, except as where they conflict with the rea...
