Television Crossover Universe

 I'm back. I recently announced my retirement from writing.  I was very tired.  I went back to work after nearly 20 years on disability.  I didn't have as much time or energy to write.  And I was diagnosed with Diabetes as well. But I recently moved, and am on new medication, and I find myself feeling more energy lately.  I'm not sleeping as much (I was sleeping way too much), and I'm more productive in my days. So let's try this a little bit longer. The neglected TVCU blog is coming back.  But maybe a little different.  I'm kind of tired of doing timelines and may strike out with more essay style posts.  That's not to say that I won't keep doing timelines occassionally, especially when tackling more character oriented posts, like when I cover historical figures. What's a quickie?   See this blog. So, sketch comedies are bit tricky.  However, it can be simplified if we consider each segment of a show individually rather the the entire show as a whole. When talking about sketch comedy, I'm referring to a variety of programs with comedy sketch segments.  This not only includes your Saturday Night Live and Mad TV, but also talks shows like Jimmy Kimmel and Jay Leno. When it comes to comedy sketches, in regards to the TVCU, they fall into three categories.  One is a stand alone sketch with no recurring characters.  No recurring characters means no crossover.  I don't even have to consider it at all.  It's not in the TVCU. The second is when the sketches portray only real people in a parody.  Since the characteristics of those celebrities and politicians are so exaggerated (and since different sketch comedy shows will tend to portray the same figures in different ways), they couldn't possibly take pla...

A Married... With Children Crossover Chronology by Robert E. Wronski, Jr. (original post) and Matt Hickman (all the updates) Taking a break from my research on Dracula crossover to cover something much more horrifying.  Love and marriage. Married...with Children was a really dumb show, with stupid idiotic plots and unrealistic characters, and yet it was a show my whole family loved. (Ironically, Full House was the other show we seemed to all rally around.) Married...with Children was a ground breaking show, in that it broke the popular trend of the family sitcom formula by showing us a truly dysfunctional family.  This was something my own family could relate to.  Other shows, like Roseanne, would soon follow to show us that the Cosbys, Seavers, and Keatons were a fantasy. Fortunately for us, the show was popular enough to make it's way into at least one major multi-network crossover, (yes, a Bundy Crisis Crossover of sorts), and it made at least two attempts...
